Overview
More
The Curacao Maritime Museum takes its visitors on a discovery tour of more then 500 years maritime history of Curacao. The story-line is illustrated through a permanent exhibition consisting of displays with authentic nautical charts, ship models and navigation equipment combined with audiovisual techniques...an attraction not to be missed. As well as the exhibition, the museum also offers a number of interesting tours. Besides a tour of the museum, a demonstration of the mini refinery, which is set up in a separate exhibition hall of the museum, can also be attended. In addition, a tour through the harbour can be made.

It is not expensive. Some good displays. Very nice people. Old Building - all redone after the fires. Good to learn about the history. Spend an hour or so.

The museum is set in a fine building on 3 levels across the bridge from Punda. Admission fee was $5, a "steal". Interesting introductory film charting the maritime history of the island. Numerous models of ships. A good way to pass an hour or two.

I would recommend this self traveled Museum. Also take the tour on the ferry with the very informative guide who speaks many languages. You travel the harbor and she explains it's many facets.

The Maritime Museum has no real ships in it (unlike similar museums in Portsmouth, UK or Amsterdam in Holland). It is still a fun visit and it is in a nice part of town.

Wonderful afternoon for the family at the Museum. Took in the model of the refinery, and the five year old loved all the machinery, as did all of us older folk. Then the ferry boat ride around the massive harbor. Just a delight. The Museum...More

The museum displays are detailed with an excellent description to narrate the entire maritime history of Curacao. The exhibit places into context the importance of Curacao throughout history and is well worth a visit for families.

We wandered around the museum for about an hour. It’s relatively small but has some interesting exhibits and the video was actually very good. It costs c6.50 US$ per person.
