This was fun. More work than I anticipated - especially toward the waterfall where the current picks up. We went with a larger group which made it a bit difficult as others working toward the ledge beneath the falls made it difficult. Definitely wear water...More

This was neat, but not the best "waterfall" we visited. No hiking, but swimming is required. The whole thing takes about 20 minutes. Basically, you swim a short distance from the entrance to the back and once in the back there is no where to go just look at the small (and not that impressive) waterfall. The "waterfall" is about 4 feet high and the current is nearly impossible to swim against to reach it - and that is about it. After experiencing it, we could have skipped this one. There is a small stream of warm (not hot) water outside the entrance. We were there in May 2017 and it looks like they were building maybe bathrooms or something at the top. They sell vests for $5ec or $2us and they insist on it. Bring small bills as they don't always have change. I would say you don't have to have the vest, but I wanted to take pictures and it was helpful to have. My husband brought his fins and the guy was like no you don't need fins, but he wanted to and used them anyways. My husband was able to reach the back wall next to the waterfall with his fins, while I was not able to. My husband didn't need the vest. Vest are not mandatory, so I would say, if you feel confident, you can try going without a vest and if it isn't working, just swim back out and go get one. You definitely don't need a guide for this. If you are looking for a nice waterfall with an easy short walk to get to it, I would suggest Emerald Falls. It is much nicer with a clearly marked path (no guide needed). When we went there was an elderly couple in front of us that had no problem with the walk. Enjoy your trip!
