To get to the island's highest waterfall at 150 feet, you'll need to take a one-hour hike through fern- and orchid-filled rainforest.

We did this hike about two days after doing the Boiling Lake hike, so compared to that it wasn't near as challenging. However, there is quite a bit of uphill, but I felt that was to be expected in Dominica. Trail is very well marked...More

The trail head is a mile plus off the road- well marked- and though some park on the road, it doubles the hike unnecessarily. You walk through a well maintained trail system to a viewing platform close enough to get sprayed during rainy periods.

The hike to these falls is not that hard, except maybe for the first 15 minutes, climbing uphill (steep parts are mostly arranged with staircases). And the falls themselves are very beautiful. It is possible to swim in the splash pool.

My wife and I are split on this experience. I loved the falls and the splash pool. My wife hated the mostly uphill hike in (lots of stairs, she has some mild asthma). Overall the falls are very impressive and the pool is cool and...More

We went on this hike with Peter Green Bushmans Tours. It was absolutely fantastic. Peter was excellent and certainly knows his stuff, he even took photographs of us all on our cameras at different points of the hike and when we got to the falls....More

The Falls are fantastic and I am happy to have done the hike, but this is not a trail for wimps. It was slick and muddy with plenty of leaves, mossy rocks and tree roots to trip you up. Some parts are steep and you...More

It was totally worth it getting wet, moderate hiking, around 50 min to 1 hr with raining weather, some areas you get wet walking thru river areas and at the end the view, sound, and everything of the Middleham waterfall make it worth it. You...More

Love these falls and the hike to the falls... I am aware that is no walking in Dominica and Middleham Falls is a mild hike. But well worth it!! The falls are so huge and you are at the bottom of a huge mountain. Absolutely...More

We will only be in Dominica for one day because we will be on a cruise ship. I am trying to choose between two excursions- a hike to middleham falls or a hike to sari sari falls. I have three questions: 1) Which is better-- Middleham or Sari Sari falls? (And why?!) 2) How long is the drive is from the cruise ship dock to where where we would begin our hike to Sari Sari? To Middleham? (I hate getting stuck on a bus the whole day when I want to be out exploring!) 3) Should we go on the excursion that the cruise line is promoting or should we hire a local to take us...I read in a review it was much better to just go with a local, but I don't know how hard it will be to find someone or if this is safe.

Hi. I live on Dominca and am familiar with both hikes. I would recommend Middleham Fall 1) it is a beautiful waterfall, with an accessible rock pool for a swim 2) the walk through the rainforest is a great experience 3) the... More
