Nice but...The main entrance has guards and no visitors are allowed inside. However you're allowed to take pictures with the guard as well. Nice site but the visit is very quickly done.

As you drive through the neighborhood, this area seems like just an upscale neighborhood. It is not like a metro area surrounded by many tall buildings juxtaposed to one another. This is where the presidential palace is erected. The main entrance has about half a dozen guards and no visitors are allowed inside. So you can peek out. At least... More

by all means, when you drive by this place while on a day in Sto. Dgo., ask your driver to stop by the south gate of the palace, although its charm does not compare to the beefeater, yet, you may ask the guards to pose for a photo, and they won't ask for a dollar (like Hollywood Blvd.) If you... Drove by, took a few pics of the building and posed to take a picture with one of the local guards. Really not much else to be done.

Lovely building with nice gardens. This is a relatively new building for the president. It's certainly the statement building in the atea

Our tour stopped here for about 15 minutes. It was perfect just to take a few pictures from the outside. Not sure if you can get inside this place or not but I wouldn't go out of the way to visit it.

Part of our full-day Santo Domingo day tour. Pleasant. Was told not always possible to stop the tour bus there especially when events are present. We were fortunate and rushed out to take some photographs ( and with the front gate-guards too ). It's an election year, so lots of posters and banners around anda little more meaningful. Be careful... More

We made the effort to walk from the Zona Colonial to see the Palacio Nacional. It was a nice, safe neighborhood to walk through with some lovely, if somewhat dilapidated, 1920s-era mansions. The only problem is that tourists are not allowed to get very close to the National Palace and can only take pictures through the gates. Still, it's an... More

to view the "palace" from the outside, better see it on the internet and use that time to do something worthy (a cold beer is better). Unless you enter, then becomes something somehow interesing to see.

This is the house of the government of the Dominican Republic, a beautiful building and garden, nice to see.
