Went to visit this fort. When you arrive they hand you a tape and headphones and walk through putting in the numbers for each area. I wish they would give you more explanation about the fort itself with what all the different areas were used...More

This is a restored 16th-century fortress with some spectacular views of the sea and the inland area of Puerto Plata. The entry costs only a few US dollars, and you are provided with a device that will give audio guidance (in a handful of languages)...More

The Fort is very small, the tour does not take too long you are provided an audio devise. The grounds are beautiful great photo opportunities on the top level cannons overlooking the ocean

This was a little disappointing site. Fort is much smaller than advertised. There is very little to see. Offered audio tour is a joke. Do not plan to see a lot or spend much time.

We went to the fort as part of the city tour we booked (private cab $90 from cruise port for the whole day). The fort was a nice stop - it was only $5 for the two of us, and they gave us audio sets...More

Beautiful Park located between the ocean and the port. A nice walk to see the grounds. Would recommend this for families to visit. We did not take the tour of the fort, due to time constraints. But, heard it was an informational resource.

I don't care for museum style stops so I didn't go in. I took photos from the outside of this old building and the harbour of Puerto Plata

We visited this fort as part of our Puerto Plata city tour. It was interesting to listen to the history through head sets as we were touring the fort.

There is a small fee (a few dollars). Some parking...kids might like it. Doesn't take long to see it (half hour to an hour, tops). Avoid hottest part of the day if possible. Bring water.
