Stopped here for a visit. Very interesting and well done. Only negative would be the people outside trying to get you to purchase their stuff. Some were very pushy

We visited the Fort as part of a "city tour" which was combined with visiting other sites. The tour comes with headphones and a recording that takes your through the fort and points out the history. It was great; you could be somewhat self guided but the recording was very informative. We got a lot of great pictures here. There... More

This was the fort built to help the Spanish to secure the island. It was successful. It's in good condition and looks over the Atlantic. There are a fair amount of peddlers on the grounds but you just say "No".

This was part of a city tour we took while in Puerto Plata. While it was interesting, it would've been better if we didn't need to listen through headphones, and could've had someone telling us about it instead. The views were outstanding, and we got some beautiful shots that we hadn't gotten anywhere else.

Have been to several other historical forts including the one at Portabello in Panama and feel that a "live" guide would significantly enhance the experience

I visited this fort a couple years ago and it was under renovations, Much better and very interesting visit this time around. this time we got to wear headphones as we walked around and explored the fort as we listened to the history of it.

Was interactive with personal ear phones telling us about the fort. you would not need a lot of time to tour the fort and there were local vendors in the front trying to sell their items.

This excursion was nice. Very cute kitty at this fort. The scenery was beautiful. They gave you headsets with information about the fort on them, but they kept cutting in and out, so hard to get all of the information.

If you have been to a fort before then you know what you will see. They give you headphones with a story of the fort. Ours did not work all the time.
