This was an incredibly disappointing tour. There was no electricity! We walked through the tiny facility in the dark.

We ventured to Matilde as a part of a Mini Cooper Excursion we purchased through our hotel. My boyfriend and I are not smokers however, we were intrigued to find out the manufacturing process of local cigars. We were also able to purchase Cigars as souvenirs.

This was a small place with 4 workers showing the hand rolling process. Takes about ten minutes to do the whole thing. Great collection of cigars in the store. It does smell great when you first walk into the building.

As part of a private tour that I arranged, we stopped for about an hour at Matilde Cigars - Cigar Country store. I had originally hoped to do the Tabacalara de garcia factory tour but the Procigar festival had the place booked solid, as a consolation the wonderful lady who remembered me from my emails gave us the local tour... Was this interesting yeah sure but not worth the time. My wife and I have seen a few "cigar factories" and this was way to commercial. The guide was very informative with his tour and answered questions very professionally. He explained how the plant is farmed from beginning to end and how the cigar is actually made from plain to... This was an excellent tour. My husband is an avid cigar smoker and loved this tour. I knew nothing about cigars but found the tour fascinating. It truly felt like we were VIPs on a behind closed doors tour.

Just took the best in-cruise-port tour of my life: Mr. Geudy Vargas took us on a tour of Tabacalera de Garcia in La Romana, Dominican Republic. It is where the Dominican versions of Montecristo, H. Upmann, Romeo y Julieta, and many other cigars are made. For those of you who know cigars well, they even make JR Alternatives. We saw,... More

My husband is a HUGE cigar aficionado and I was so excited to plan the cigar tour for our honeymoon. It was $20 a person through our hotel- casa de campo, and a minimum of 3 so I went ahead to reserve 3 spots to have a private experience. When we got to the factory we were expecting a huge... More

While the tour was interesting, in that it touched on the highlights of the cigar making process, the cruise tour operator/guide was like a 90 min infomercial for the cigar brand and principal. While the information about how the cigar is made from growing the Tobacco to sourcing the wrapper, to watching the rollers make the core, and wrapping the... More
