About
The Indigenous Eyes Ecological Park and Reserve is a private protected area owned and operated by the Grupo Puntacana Foundation. Consisting of lowland subtropical forest, the reserve covers 1,500 acres of land dedicated to conservation, scientific research, and recreation. The Ecological Reserve is a forest reserve with twelve freshwater lagoons, five of which visitors can swim in. Historians discovered that the Taíno Indians, the pre-Columbian inhabitants of the island, referred to the lagoons as “eyes” because of their distinctive shape. For this reason, the Ecological Park and Reserve was named “Ojos Indígenas” or “Indigenous Eyes.”The Ecological Park consists of numerous exhibits describing the cultural and natural history of the island.

Such a beautiful place! We opted to drive ourselves here instead of going with a larger guided group and that was definitely the right choice for us. By staggering with the larger groups, we were able to get some time in the lagoons by ourselves. We saw a massive iguana on the trail. We gave each other space and were able to get around it without disturbing each other. The entrance fee was $50 USD and it was worth it. Don’t skip this place!

The 4 lagoons you can swim in are unique. The water is very refreshing on a hot day. A couple of them have jumping in spots which added to the excitement for the kids. We wanted to take a hike and the concierge said this is a good hiking spot and it will take 4 hours to complete. The entire loop is about a mile and we were done, including swimming, in about 2 hours. The lagoons get crowded so the fun leaves pretty quickly. Your goal is to walk to one that doesn't have a lot of people yet and swim there. It is a good experience but not up to the raving reviews on the site. A few things: go mid-week to try and avoid a lot of people, go on your own vs a tour (taxi took us there and back to our resort), ask the concierge or call the facility to see how many tickets have been sold and are in the park. If you can avoid crowds it is a good time. If you are looking for a hike and seeing the nature of DR this isn't the spot.

Awesome experience a must do if you are in Punta Cana, is located in a private club so it is safe. Unreal place you can also swim in the crystal clear water and once you are done the club also has tennis, golf course and some other stuff to do.
50$ the price of the bracelet to see the lagoons.

This is a must see place if you rent a car or would like to see amazing lagoons. Tickets to get on to the property is $50US/pp. This includes access to the lagoons and Blanca beach. There are several Lagoons that are crystal clear and you have the ability to swim in. We seen turtles, hermit crabs, and different types of lizards along our hike around the area. We enjoyed the coral lined pathways, no getting lost. The walk doesn’t take long to get around the whole circle and is an easy walk. About 2-3 hour event (taking short breaks to swim).

Beautiful place, you will visit several lagoons with cristaline water and you can swim in some of them together with the fishes and turtles.
You don't need hiking shoes to visit, it is a very easy walk, approx. 1 hour long.
The entry is 50$ per person which is too expensive, but at least you can see that take care of the place.

Me and my boyfriend visited this place during our stay in Punta Cana.
We decided to rent a car and explore the nature around Punta Cana.
The entry ticket in this national park was 50$, but totally worth it. It's a very unique place. Pure nature.
There is a path where you can walk along and explore the crystal-clear water lagoons. In some of them you can swim.
But take care of swallowing water!! The evening when we got back to the hotel I started to feel sick, and the next day my boyfriend also. I do not think it was of the food, since we did not eat anything all day, only in the evening at the hotel. I think we got the Traveler's diarrhea (+fever, vomiting etc). Luckily it lasted only one day, as we took some antibiotics (entero bactericid). But take care and avoid swallowing water in case you decide to swim in the lagoons.
But even if we got sick, we would go back again, as it is so beautiful. We spent there approximately 3 hrs.

If you are looking to commune with nature, this is the perfect place. I was drawn to it because of the images of the clear lagoons with blue/green waters and it was even more amazing IRL. As a bonus we got to see a huge iguana which is rare as they do not apparently come on to the trail. It’s quite a long hike if you want to see all the bodies of water, we did 7 (out of 12) comfortably in 2.5 hours including swims in 2 of them. There is a $50 entrance fee which we were happy to pay to help keep this beautiful forest reserve open to the public.

If you have the chance visit this place… Everything about it is special, is are clear and cold, we had a blast and enjoyed every moment over there.
Entrance is $50 per person, a little bit pricey if you asked me but it worth every penny spent you will not regret paying that fee. My 11 years old kid had a great time too he didn’t want to leave the place

Hello! My boyfriend and I would like to plan a solo trip here (no tours or guides - just us to explore). We will be staying at Secrets Royal Beach.
I have a few questions:
1. What would be more affordable transportation- a taxi or car rental?
2. What day and time would be the best to avoid crowds?
3. Are all areas of reserve open at the same time (trails, lagoons, iguanas, etc)?
Any feedback is greatly appreciated :) Thank you!!

Hello.. The website does not seem to be working so I would appreciate if I can get an answer here. Is this place still open to self guided tours now on covid times? Are there any restrictions on swimming in the lagoons?

How much is it to just enter on your own not as part of a tour? I can't find a website that works. Also does anyone know how far of a cab ride this is from Dreams Punta Cana resort and spa?

Hi, scarymary73. What would you like to know about this attraction?
Hi--if you're staying at a different resort, how would you recommend going about getting to this attraction? By taxi? I'm a little nervous about safety and getting back to my resort as well. Thank you.

Hi scarymary73,
Ask at your resort for them to set up transportation for you. You should set up the fee as well as your ride back with the same transportation you use to get to the Indigenous Eyes Ecological Park & Reserve.
Have a great day!
