A Port Worth Visiting

Friendly, beautiful, and wonderful. We were on a 70' Sail cat all inclusive week of fun adventures and just had to check it out!

Beautiful location. Fort Napoleon and museum is worth the walk up the hill, or hire a scooter. 5 Euro entry affordable. History of sea battles very interesting.

The island of Terre-de-haut is an absolute gem in the Caribbean! We stayed in Trois Rivieres at the south end of Basse Terre so that we could easily get to the ferry early in the morning. There are several different ferry companies to choose from so there is no need to book in advance - just arrive by 7:30 a.m.... More

We visited twice while on a sailing charter. Enjoyed the town for lunch and ability to get out and walk around. Went up to Ft. Napoleon which was very interesting and had great view stops on the way up. Snorkeling nearby was very good.

If you come to this beautiful island on a cruise ship it will be a small ship and by tender. BUT It is worth every minute to be on this delightful little island. The town is small and only has a few shops and a few bars. Head for the town beach. It is only a five minute walk but... More

We rented a 4 WD Electric car and explored the whole island, while not large, was hilly and extremely pretty. The fort was extremely interesting, especially the architecture of the fort and the contents of the museum. We visited by boat and the island could not have been more welcoming for cruisers.

We took the ferry from Trois-Rivières. Be there by 7:30 to get parking. You can reserve a spot on the ferry over the internet. We used the guided mini-bus tour. Buy your ticket from the person holding the sign just as you reach the main street (10 euros). It leaves for Fort Napoleon at 9:50. You get an hour at... More

My wife and I stayed at UCPA Les Saintes for 10 days and had the opportunity to feel the time slip by very differently on the island of les Saintes. We did not rent any electric car or moped on the island so we walked a lot from one end(Fort Napoléon) to the other (Anse Crawen). This gave us the... More

Stayed at a super sketchy overpriced hotel Rotobas for €110. Let's just say wtf! Maybe for 1/3 that. One night only so no big deal. Also not the warmest of staff, not to say rude but just a bit attitudie. Whatever... won't go back.

The island is certainly worth more than a single day visit - was the best part of our visit to Guadeloupe and wish we had stayed here for a few days. The island is easy to get around - either walking or hiring an electric car or scooter. Some really nice charming beaches, quiet roads, slow pace of life and... More
