We were here as part of a 14 day cruise and spent the day at Plage St. Anne. Know it is a 30 min taxi ride rom the port, frequent stopped and slow traffic due to tunnels, narrow streets, etc. which costs 10 euros per person, each way. The beach is fairly crowded, commercial and shallow. The downtown we drove through had many buildings covered with graffiti, and trash left on the walks/alleys. I can't imagine coming here for a vacation. We've been on 30+ Carribean cruises and pretty much seen it all, but this has to be in the top 10 worst destinations.

Great Beach . Here you have both toilet, restaurants , palm to make shadows. Feeling like in paradise. Water is so beautiful and clean.

we traveled around Guadeloupe but had to come back and spend more time at Sainte Anne. This beach has a bit of everything: the turquoise water over white coral sand and palm lined beach, the hustle of a municipal beach with school groups having swimming and sailing classes, a wide choice of restaurants, bars, food trucks and markets.

Maybe the best beach of the island but too crowded. Almost impossible to find your space for beach towels.

While staying at Club Med La Caravelle from the US, we walked almost everyday into town. The market was amazing. The bakery on the corner delicious. But the best was our morning cappuccino at Au Bord de l’Eau at the end of the beach with the red umbrellas! They also serve a great daiquiri! Enjoy!

It's a "hidden Caribbean gem" - as crazy as it sounds... we have been to so many islands and places around Caribbeans and I must say this is one of the nicest beaches out there - the trick to experiencing is coming to a French island that goes by EU rules and laws and where everyone speaks French, only! That being said it's hidden from non-French speakers :)
Yes, there are some English speaking people visiting Guadeloupe (and Martinique) but the truth is that if these French West Indies were popular among Americans or more "openly English speaking" you would be hearing about this beach every time Caribbean region is mentioned vs. Arubas, DRs, and the like... and maybe that's a good thing too because even more people would come here and it would feel definitely overcrowded, while it already gets very busy on the weekends and Sundays especially
There are basically 3 protected coves (with the first starting east by hotel Le Nil - where we actually stayed and had a chance to see and experience St Anne beach every day, and loved it!) and then one longer stretches for a while - pleeeeeenty of room for everyone. The added bonus are the palm trees - reminded me of one of my all time favorite Bavaro Beach in DR - so amazingly tropical! The shade those palms give out is absolutely priceless and people do take advantage of it a lot! That longer stretch doesn't have as many trees though so plan your spot accordingly. There are no beach chair rentals here etc. everyone just comes with a towel or maybe their own beach chair from home at most. There are plenty of good restaurants and food trucks here as well. Don't recall restrooms though, other than of course ones at the restaurants but since our hotel was right there I didn't get to check for one, sorry.
Water is super peaceful and mostly shallow protected by coral reefs - plenty of people doing snorkeling but I was so lazy and "lazy" because of rhum most of the time that I just floated and simply cooled off in the water rather than being active :P veryyyyy picturesque beach/water scenery - trust me!!! Also, great for sunsets and with the view of Basse Terre (you can also see La Desirade, Marie Galante and Des Saintes as well) - visual perfection!
The parking lot isn't the biggest but it looked like Sunday was the only day where people struggled to find a spot (be careful as local police does write parking violation tickets, yep this is not another Caribbean island, they do abide the law here a bid more than somewhere else in this amazing region of the world if you know what I mean :P)
It felt safe, it felt family friendly, it felt like a place everyone comes to enjoy and share - definitely top 5 of my life right next to Bavaro Beach in DR, Cape Santa Maria in Long Island, Bahamas, Grand Anse in Grenada, and Matira in Bora Bora - just to give you a range of what I am comparing it against!

A great beach witch is very clean and good public toilets for free on hand. Plenty of bars and restuarant plus a local supermarket or bakery to make you a fresh sandwich or banquet.
Prices for sunbeds are €10 each but beer and cold drinks are reasonably priced. You can walk into the sea for a distance before it starts getting deep, so great for kids.

If you are looking for a perfect catalogue-like beach, then that`s the correct choice. Crystal clear water, white sand and coconut trees are the real caribbean treasure.

Very busy beach. And really no parking . It’s on the street and taken up . There is a little spice and souvenir market right there with a few places to eat. Water is nice and clear

St-Anne is a beach town par excellence.
The beach is truly beautiful, clean, white sand, one of the very best in Guadeloupe. Not something to be missed.
Because the beach is so good it is extremely popular, crowded and serviced by a myriad of bars, restaurants, market stalls, beach clothing shops, souvenir and chotchka stands, boat tours, wind surfing places, etc., etc.
If you are not bothered by that sort of thing, you will probably want to spend a lot of time here.
If not, you should once to experience it, and then strike out for one of the many quieter, more secluded places out towards the Pointe des Chateaux or elsewhere on these islands.

So sorry I don't recall the total amount. I bargained with him outside the terminal but I do remember it wasn't very costly. Maybe $10 euros each???
Sorry!

What town does the cruise port stop at? It’s about a 20 minute ride from Gosier to Ste Anne Beach. A bit longer from Bas du Fort. I would think that is not so expensive as a taxi to Basse Terre or the west coast of Guadeloupe.

Hallo,

So you scored the can't miss air fare deal from Norweigian huh ?? Do any of you speak French ?? If not, don't go here. Bite the bullet and cancel your flight. We just got back. Sorry I found that deal, but anyway. I would get a "Gite" on VRBO or AirBnB near St Anne or St Franscois. Rental car is a must. Traffic is horrendous. You can find at the Tourist office a map with 6 suggested routes to see everything. We combined it into 3 and saw it all. The maps and suggestions are all in French, but we made it out enough to see them all. Keep in mind , ALL of the places, like Botanical Gardens, Parks and distilleries are in French. We paid the entrance fees than fumbled through the sites on our own. That was a waste of time. Be careful at some of the beaches along the way. Apparently the French welfare system is like ours, everybody gets a check. That was more pronounced on the Basse Terre side, not sure why. I would use the beach at Pierrre & Vac since it is on a public beach, just go down the road along the fence, there's free parking, beach chairs, pools and amenities that we paid for at the resort. I know this question is over a year old, but if you are considering going, this may help.
