Before my cruise to Ocho Rios, I had read many negative reviews about the Craft Market. But after a co-worker who was from Jamaica highly recommended visiting the Craft Market, I went. When I got to the entrance of the Market, a women who was standing outside immediately approached me and asked me to come look at her shop. She... More

We wanted to buy our gifts from locals, and hopefully get some unique hand crafted items. We went to the local market in stead of buying from shops realizing these people are working hard to feed their families and wanted to support them. As soon as we entered the vendors where trying to get you to come into their shops.... More

Had a good time but most booths had the same or similar merchandise. I was looking for local handcrafted merchandise. Aggressive owners and they all had stories on why you should buy from them and if you did buy it was "don't tell anyone i gave it to you so cheap." I really wasn't that dumb to believe what they... Of the 15 Caribbean ports we've visited on cruise ships, this one has always been our least favorite because of the super aggressive vendors who are at their worst at the craft market. Although Ocho Rios has improved over the years (we've been here 3 times) with a clean and attractive port shopping mall to compete with the downtown market,... More

Spent a little time browsing around the stalls in the market that backs onto bus stops. Many have the same items for sale and they try to put them around your neck and push hard for a payment. A firm no stops them doing this. Only start to negotiate if you are really interested in their offering and push for... More

If you are interested in buying souvenirs from Jamaica in an authentic place, and you (and your party) are in a good mood, the Market in Ocho Rios has many things to offer. But you have to be really patient and do not get angry at the locals, because they are extremely pushy, aggressive, will be calling you "just to... More

Don't let the pushy vendors make you grumpy, get out of the market and hit the nearby shops. Lots of kitsch here, smoking paraphernalia and wood wall art. Over and over.

you have to visit the local markets while you are visiting Jamaica. You get to see so much that you would never see in the USA. We took an afternoon and just strolled through. Most of the vendors were nice, persistent but nice. Only a couple actually got mad if you didn't buy anything but if you kept your smile,... More

Do not come to this flea market unless you are looking for something in particular! Whatever cultural items you may be interested in (even paintings!) are here and with some haggling you will get a good price. OTHER THAN THAT the salespeople here are very agressive and that makes the place a little sketchier than it needs to be. If... More

Compared to the Malls built for the Cruise Ships, this market is closer to the local culture. Be prepared to select what you want, not what they want to sell you and remember everything has a sale price which you are prepared to pay, walk away and the price drops!
