I just happened to be checking out the area and made it a point to stop by and climb to the top of the lighthouse. It's nothing spectacular if you seen a few lighthouses, but who wouldn't want to check out that view.

I was lucky when I went to see the light house. I got to go up to check out the view. It was awesome. Everything was kept up and to see the old books and equipment was unreal.
The white lighthouse tower was built in 1894, situated at south Negril - 2,5 km of centre town. Height 27 metres, focal height 31 metres. Light source - gas lamp, from 1956 acetylen lamp and from 1985 solar energy.
We went up to the Negril lighthouse and it was so pretty. The view and the grounds. Amazing that on a clear day through binoculars, you can see Cuba which is 80 miles away...
This is listed as a tourist attraction and we like lighthouses and decided to go. If you enjoy viewing one from behind a locked gated fence, then this is for you. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. you can't get close enough to see a thing
