We saw Winnifred beach on an Anthony Bourdain episode about east Jamaica. The beach is great, other reviews get that right. We were anticipating lunch at Doreen's shack. We ordered jerk chicken and a fish plate. The food was under seasoned, basically flavorless. The chicken was dry. The beer was good. The bill was exorbitant. A major disappointment. Doreen said... Winnifred is a little out of the way, but worth the journey. There is plenty of shade on the beach for those who need to get out of the sun but want to stay close to their group. There are food and drink vendors along the beach for easy access - but bring Jamaican cash, they don't take cards. The... More

Secluded beach located outside of Port Antonio, Jamaica. White sandy beach, blue waters off the typical tourist track. Beautiful and peaceful. Great food!!

Winnifred Beach is one of the few white sand beaches we found when in the Port Antonio area in early February of 2017. It is about a mile or so east of the Blue Lagoon, which itself, along with Frenchman's Cove, is east of the village of Port Antonio. It is very tricky to find - only a small sign... More

Winnifred is one of the few "free" beaches in Port Antonio. Although it if free people will ask for a contribution when you get down. However, the donation is to keep up the place and the beach is very clean and there is no plastic or garbage in the water so I feel it was worth it. There is good... More

A little walk from the main road through a nice neighbourhood, but may be hard to find. In late January we had to enter the water from one of two spots as not to walk over sharp rocks. Pretty blue water, deep but fun to swim in. If you are one of few tourists you may be hassled, but has... More

One of the last beeches run by the local community and not turned into the commercial hotel property. At the Entrance a donation is appreciated. There are couple of small food joints and local sellers

You will experience the real people of the island at this truely Jamaican beach. Jerk chicken and beer can be had at a couple of stands there. They may ask you to give a little to help them keep the area clean but otherwise there is no charge. There is no good bathroom or changing room there. There is a... More
