Amazing, Tranquil experience. Just stunning view and surreal experience. While rafting down this wide river other rafts would come by to sell cold beer, soda, coconut. The raft stops half way to a little restaurant to have some delish jamaican cuisine... Allows you to swim in that wonderful cold spring water. You will get alot of sun, so wear a... More

Portland is a beautiful Parish in Jamaica. From the deep blue sea to the people....beautiful. we went rafting on the Rio grande and met Roy who is a captain. He sang old folk songs, told stories and was an all around awesome river tour guide. We also went to Frenchman 's cove...beautiful and tranquil. The food in Portland is also... More

This trip was an afterthought with a booked trip to the Blue Lagoon. While that turned out to be a waste of time the raft trip was fantastic. Two hours gently drifting down the river with the raft captain controlling the action with a long pole much like a punt. Well worth it.

Rafting on the RioGrande is just about the most peaceful, quiet, tranquil, green experience I have had. The roads going to Pt. Antonio are bad in some patches, they have been having some heavy rains. However, the rains have cleared the river of that invasive vine on the river floor, so you can see down to the bottom. At some... More

I would definitely recommend this tour to both locals and foreigners to Portland, Jamaica. I visited the site with my hubby, who was excited to take part in this activity, because he had seen postcards since he was a child with persons rafting on the Rio a Grande. We explained to the Captain- TREVOR #40 (who has been rafting for... More

We had a wonderful afternoon as a family of four, with two kids aged 9 and 11. This is not rafting per se as gliding on a bamboo raft that keeps you up out of the water. Think Venice more than Colorado. Nevertheless, you see some lovely vegetation and birds. We are cruisers and we had Paul the Harbormaster call... More

Rafting on the Rio grande is the ultimate in rafting experience, brace yourself the drive is long from Ocho or Montego bay. BUT if you leave early, take in the most extraordinary tropical vegetation as you get closer and enjoy the ultimate in rafting experience, you can also stop and take a swim, this tour is awesome two on a... We rafted as part of a day trip. It was a very long day out with a lot of driving to get to the rafts. We were on the rafts for 2 and a half hours which was far too long for us. The whole way down there were people wanting to sell you beer and "the Bob Marley". It... More

This was an amazing bamboo rafting on the rio grande in Port Antonio. It takes about 2 hours, and is absolutely amazing. The nature is beautiful, and our funny "captain" made the rafting even better. If you have the time and the patience, this is definitely worth the trip.

It's well worth paying the money for a proper tour . Thank you to Geejam for setting us up with Captain Mark #54 who took us down the Rio Grande ! It would be one of all time favourite travel experiences . We paid to have someone drop us off , select a reputable captain and hook us up a... More
