More than just an art museum, Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico hosts concerts and festivals as well.

The Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico (MAPR), a non-for-profit organization, was inaugurated on July 1, 2000, as a legacy for the Puerto Rican people. The mission of the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico is to enrich the lives of its diverse audiences by making accessible and promoting the knowledge, appreciation, and enjoyment of visual arts from Puerto Rico and the world. The MAPR engages diverse communities to facilitate learning experiences about the visual arts through: the growth of a well-researched permanent collection exemplifying significant and representative examples of Puerto Rican art from the sixteenth century to the present; a dynamic program of exhibitions supported by engaging and exciting educational and cultural programs that collectively deepen the understanding of the role of the visual arts in the human experience and contribute to the creation of a curatorial legacy; documentation, research, interpretation, preservation, and conservation of the collection and the visual arts patrimony of Puerto Rico; and alliances with local, regional, and international museums and institutions to advance the knowledge of, access to, and understanding of the visual arts of the world.

Nice place to visit with family for entertainment and culture. It can be seen in 2 hours. We did not have a guide but they have them at some times.

This is a beautiful museum of Puerto Rican Art dating back to the early 1500's. The staff members were very helpful and friendly. The Puerto Rican people are among the friendliest people in the world. In regards to comments in other reviews, if you are having a problem, it might be you. The building originally was a hospital, built in... More

If you love art, this is a great place to visit. However, bring your patience. As we started to explore the museum, we noticed that some of the displays had numbers next to them, so we asked a staff person if audio guides were available. We were sent back to the ticket desk, and no one was there. There were... More

This museum is in walking distance from the Doubletree hotel where I stayed. The outside of the building is beautiful but the inside and the grounds are even more beautiful. There is a fish pond in the rear with very large Koi's. The garden and the outer grounds is peaceful and well maintained.

We saw two exhibits at the museum and both were informative and interesting. The guides were ok, not that great. They managed to answer many of our questions, but lacked imagination and seemed to regorgitate memorized facts rather than inspire and directly answer questions.

I went to the museum to see a new exhibition about skateboards and it is awesome, very creative. I loved the pond in the back of the museum.

I gave it a 4 star only because the staff there were on you like they were hovering. If I moved left they moved left. I wanted to say "relax, I'm not going to touch." That was a bit annoying. But overall it was nice.

It took me 2.5 years of living within a few blocks to get here. What a mistake. The grounds and gardens are beautiful, and the art and facility are top-knotch. Spend two hours minimum here. You won't be disappointed.
