This plaza is one of the main squares in Old San Juan. It's nicely maintained and there are numerous restaurants nearby as well as plenty of shopping. It's a good starting point for the area.

When I think of an old European city and the town centered around Main Plaza this is it. Surrounding this Plaza are shops and restaurants. People are Gathering here to either hang out or begin their adventures in the city. According to our tour guide lots of events take place in this Plaza. This is definitely the center beating heart of Viejo San Juan.

This is the central square in San Juan, like in many Latin American cities. In the middle is a nice fountain with several street performers and around state edifices with a beautiful Town Hall.
The square had a special appearance due to Christmas celebrations, specially at night. It also seems a popular place with locals who gather here.

Large square surrounded by colorful historic buildings including City Hall. Great place to people watch, take a load off while touring the Old Town and just chillin'.

We loved visiting the plaza. There are more "locals" here and greater opportunities to practice speaking Spanish. There is a pharmacy and a little grocery store if you need to stock up on supplies. Bring a mask if you plan to enter the pharmacy.

In such a beautiful place most of the retail space is occupied by chains: Wendy's, Marshall and supermarket. Very unfortunate, could have been used for little cafés and restaurants with outdoor seating.

The Plaza de Armas of San Juan is one of the main squares in San Juan, which was designed to serve as the original main square for the city. it dates back to Spanish colonial times, One side of the plaza, you'll find San Juan's official town hall building, and on another the Puerto Rico Department of State.

like any famous square, street performances, local food stalls, everything is here.

To better enjoy the Plaza de Armas, grab a coffee and a Puerto Rican pastry from any of the local spots and grab a sit in any of the public benches. also, you won't find wendy in the new avatar anywhere else.

We walked through Old San Juan and noticed a man applying white body paint. He was the same size as the four statues in the permanent installation--Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter--and was definitely an etnertainer. His slow approach
a fifth pedestal captured our attention. We might have stayed all night if we weren't trying to return to our car before dark. He was a showman!

I walked through this plaza many times during my visit to Old San Juan, but one day, two separate times, a swarm of pigeons flew right at me (I screamed like a little girl). Besides that, it is mainly a large open area with a fountain. The fountain is covered by a Christmas tree, but you can still see the four seasons statues that surround it. It is a great place to sit and people watch.

We visited during the 500yr celebration of san juan. Lotsa live music. Nice opened plaza. Has 4 statues representing the 4 seasons, also tite curet the most prolific salsa writer(over 2000) songs lived on that street and now there is a brass statue of him sitting in one of the bencvhes. City hall is there. Also Puertorico Farmacy is a blue colored building , just on the corner of the plaza over 200 yrs in existence. There you can find, meds, crinkets, fine lladro figurines, coffee, etc, a must visit. The Plaza de armas is a place you must not miss while in Old San juan.
