Ashford makes up one of the main streets in San Juan/Condado Area to find Food and Things to Buy. You can pretty much find anything you want in this area. It passes a scenic park area and then many choices of stores. It has a older charm to the street than would be expected in this area but it is... More

We stayed at La Concha, and I was expecting Ashford to be much more upscale with nice store fronts and boutique type shopping. It seemed delapitated and hardly any boutique type shops. It was not a quaint street at all. The only reason I gave it a 3 instead of a 2 is because it does have a lot of... More

I don't see the strip as an attraction unto itself. Like most of San Juan, Ashford Avenue is a wanna be that can't seem to close the deal. There is nothing seamy about the strip and it does offer a number of opportunities for dining. There is a Cartier smack dab in the middle, but Beverly Hills or 5th Avenue... More

Reading the guidebooks and reviews, one might think Ashford rivals the Champs Elysees or Madison Avenue. There are several nice shops and restaurants, but there are just as many cheap souvenir shops and bars. The Vanderbilt and La Concha hotels are here, and the Marriott further down, but it's not a must-see street.

Love the location as many things to do, parks, restaurants, shopping, bars, etc. Drivers are extremely polite to pedestrians as well.

Was hoping for a bit more. Several buildings are undergoing rehab and believe that took away from some of the ambiance. Fantastic restaurants to chose from, just surprised to see how Americanized this are seems to be. Subway, Marriott, Hilton, Vanderbilt, Holiday Inn??? Not quite like Old San Juan.

Close your eyes and you would think you are on Collins Avenue in South Beach! Plenty of shops, restaurants and hotels on this street to make you think you are actually in Miami!

Staying at the Marriott 5 times, I have been able to explore Ashford Avenue on each visit. At one end is a small local grocery with local produce and products. The avenue has many really good local restaurants, and ends in a delightful park on the ocean where families with children relax and play. After that come the high end... More
