This monument commemorates the bravery of the Irish in 1796 against French troops. The grounds are well maintained, and there was a very helpful guide on site to show us around and give us an explanation of the historic events.

As is so often the case, the English were assisted by the Irish in this battle. The setting is particularly beautiful for this memorial.

This is a relatively interesting piece of St Lucia history but it is the location that makes a visit worthwhile. You will get great views over the island and sea from the monument's spot on top of a hill and will undoubtedly get great views on the steep roads on the way there. This landmark is on most tour companies'... More

High up in the mountains of Saint Lucia the Inniskilling Monument is a vista point that has great historic significance to this island nation. As with most battle sights the high ground being the most strategic location has a lush views. It is well worth the time to visit this location.

The Inniskilling Monument is part of the Morne Complex and is a tribute to the battle that ended the conflict between the English and the French in 1796 where the English were victorious. Worth a look. The Morne Complex is in a beautiful area with fantastic views of Castries Harbor, the Pitons, and Martinique. You can stroll around and take... More

The monument is at Morne Fortune Historic area. You don't go just for that; you go because you pass, old fort buildings and vegetation. For a small tip a guide tells you about the area. Worth a visit. William Arthur Lewis - noble laureate- grave is there and nice views of St Lucia.

The long climb out of Castries to Morne Fortune shows the lengths that both Britain, and France, in the C18th were prepared to go to secure this lovel, and highly significant island. Fort Charlotte, now occupied by the Sir Arthur Lewis Community Collage, (and what a location for a campus) is literally just across the road from the small parkland,... More

The historical significance of the site is a delight and splendor on its own to take in and grasp the battles won in the fight for the independence of St. Lucia, but what caught my heart and breathe was the breathe taking views of the Gros Piton and Petite Piton. Rolling grassy hills rolled before my feet and gaze and... More

After reading that the French and British exchange power 14 times in the battle for St Lucia (7 times each), I knew that I wanted to visit Inniskilling Monument which is located at the top of the Morne Fortune battleground. To get to this monument, you must first drive through the fort which is now home to the restored and... More
