We learned a lot about the inhabitants of the area and their culture. The Museum was wonderful! They hosted a holiday party and it was great!!

As a history buff, I always like to learn a little something about the places I visit, and their distinctive cultures. This Museum contains many island specific artifacts, pictures, and documents. It is upstairs from their gift shop. If you are interested in learning about St. Martin / Sint Maarten, stop by for a visit. It was an educational experience... More

Hopefully the info we were given at the tourist info office was wrong or subject to change as we were keen to visit the museum. There is a nice one in Phillipsburg as an alternative, free but accepts donations.

For St Martin island lovers . Not a must see but if this is your favorite Caribean island then this is a must see stop . Lots of pictures and things to give you a feel for the island . When it's hot hot outside this is a good stop . It's a one time stop no real need to... More

The Caribbean is beautiful and may lack some home comfort but look outside the box,get away from the tattie shops along the front and take a taxi which will cost $25 this will take you all around the Island with the local taxi driver giving his Knowledgable antidotes and stories of the Island. The tour takes about 3 hours with breaks... Fairly simple museum with artifacts and description of the history of the island and the French influence. Worth the hour it took us to look. It was hot that day, and I recall appreciating the nice air conditioning as well ! The docents there were very accommodating with questions; very knowledgeable ! Recommended, as it enhanced our understanding of St.... More

As a New Yorker may tell you that they never ever visited the Empire State Building, I will tell you that as a frequent visitor to St Martin I had never visited the museum until 2013. Having seen most of the island over my 10 year love affair with St Martin, I was very excited to get to the museum,... More

As was noted by other reviewers, the museum closes quite frequently. We had to go back on a different day to get in and were glad that we did. There is a lot to see and, for the American visitor, a lot of the information presented is likely to be completely new. The museum has lots of artifacts from before... More

History goes back to 4000 BC, I think often many of us think of Columbus which was much later. I had read Michener's Caribbean before our trip and this museum provided some concrete examples to add to my book experience.
