Very soft sand with hardly any rocks very calm ocean when we were there, good snorkeling, and parking very close to the beach. We went to cemetery beach the next day and we were very disappointed so we left and went back to governors beach.

Very nice beach to visit but facitlies are a little walk down the beach. The snorkeling / beach was alot of fun. Parking was close by. Seemed like about a mile walk to Calico Jacks but its a nice walk.

We went snorkeling about 200 yards out and ran into a Nurse Shark. I hear it is a very rare occurrence, but we hit the jackpot on that one. I have also heard they are not known to attack. I felt blessed to have seen...More

We shared a chilling day with friends and a few drinks.... bliss! The beach was spotless and the scenery was awesome. Make time to go here when in Cayman.

This stretch of 7 Mile beach is so much quieter than the hotel area. There's ample parking, a johnny on the spot, a few shaded spots up closer to the parking but still on the beach, and tons of open space for whatever you desire....More

From the Ritz/Westin walk along north along the beach in front of the Governer's House. At the end of the white picket fence, swim out 200 yards to the coral to see schools of sargent majors, blue tangs, parrot fish, etc.

This is part of the Seven Mile beach. It is for public use and does get crowded on weekends. The beach and water is beautiful.

One of the best beaches I've ever been to. Such calm, clear, beautiful water, gorgeous sand, beautiful tiny shells to be found. Can't wait to go again!!

I live in Grand Cayman and Governor's Beach is always my number 1 choice for a quiet and relaxing day on the beach. The crowd is always very minimal and the parking is great! (right next to the Westin) No entrance fees and the beach...More

Other beaches have better snorkeling like cemetery beach, smiths cove and Spotts beach. Probably best snorkeling is on the north side, Cayman Kia beach.

There are no rentals there but a blanket or towel to lay on would be fine. We took along with us every day one of the hotels bed covers and kept it in the keep we rented and used that so we would always have something to lay... More
Hello! My husband and I will be going to Grand Cayman in Sept with a cruise boat. I wanted to ask how long does it take to walk back from this public beach (you posted it as West Bay Dock?) in the way you describe? And is there taxi's for this beach as an alternative? Kay
