The Cayman Brac Museum, the oldest Museum in the Cayman Islands opened its doors to the public on December 3rd, 1983. Through the years our efforts have been focused on preserving the unique history of Cayman Brac & Little and creating informative exhibits. The Museum’s home is the Old Government Administration Building built in 1933 which housed the Post Office, Customs, Treasury and much more under one roof before it was replaced by a new building in 1983.

Good overview of island life and especially life when the hurricane went through in 1932. It must have been terrifying. No charge but we felt like we needed to leave a donation.

Has some cool history of some of the worst hurricanes that hit the island. May not be what you are expecting to have at a museum, but overall worth the stop.

We did an island tour while on Cayman Brac and our driver suggested that we stop and visit this small museum. He was right! It was worth it. Lots of interesting exhibits of what life was like in the early years on this quiet island.

We really enjoyed this museum which we found in Maps of the Cayman Islands magazine. It is small scale but fascinating. The room dealing with the 1932 hurricane was amazingly moving and left us talking and thinking about it all day. The other exhibits relating...More

Our fourth visit (2016 & 2017) to the Brac but my first visit to the Museum. I spent about an hour in the little 3 room building. The third room covering the hurricane of '32 was especially interesting to me. Free of charge but donations...More

This museum is small but packed with very informative island history. The hurricane that pummeled this island in 1932 is very well documented. It is worth the trip and donations are appreciated.

We stopped here and were pleasantly surprised. This small museum house many relics from the early 1900's. It took about 40 minutes to walk through. Everything from old tools, utensils, and clothing is on display. The room with pictures and quotes from the hurricane of...More
