Lots of history with the recorded information given to every visitor. Sun was very hot but worth every bit of the visit.

I recently travelled to St. Kitts and had a first-hand tour of this magnificent fort. The road to get there is long, windy and narrow. Once there, there are a good number of steps to reach the top, but it is well worth the climb....More

After reading other reviews we decided to spend the money for a taxi to take us to Brimstone Hill Fortress as a half day trip. When we got off the cruise ship, we went straight to the taxi stand at the pier and said that...More

If you are a history buff then this fort might be of interest. But honestly, although I generally love historical spots, this to me was a bore. Yes, there are a couple of cannons and you can see the walls of the fort, but that's...More

We were not disappointed in the trip to the top of this fortress. (A whiny teenager without wifi would disagree). Excellent place to relive history and take in the surroundings.

Although the ride to the fortress was a bit hairy, it was worth it! The views are amazing! The fortress is what you'd expect, some old fort with some exhibits, but just being able to see the views from the top of the island is...More

This place is something else! The views are breathtaking! It's amazing to be standing on the grounds, and think of all the historic tales that occurred before this moment! The fortress has been preserved excellently! During our visit - there was a local classroom of...More

If you travel to St. Kitts and/or Nevis, you must find time to visit here. It provides outstanding views of several different islands of the Caribbean, as it's almost the highest point of St. Kitts. It's definitely on a hill, as its name suggests. It...More

We spent a couple of hours soaking in the beautiful view and learning about the history. I really got excited when I saw a group of monkeys run across the wall. I wish I could have captured a picture but they were too fast.

If you start at the bus stop how long of a walk is it to get to the top

I'm not sure where the bus stop is as we rented scooters, but if the stop is at the main road it is a long and very steep road. Also, even if you are dropped off where you pay it is still an effort to get to the top. If... More
Is it difficult getting a taxi from the cruise port to Brimstone? Hoping to head there before before going to a beach for the rest of our day on St. Kitts.

No, tons of drivers waiting for you at end of dock! $25 pp for 3 hr island tour stopping here first!
What is the best way to visit the fortress without having to purchase a whole tour? I would like to be able to explore it at my leisure and not be confined to a tour. We will be coming by cruise ship for the day. Would taxi be the only way, if so does anyone know what that would run from the port?

taking a local bus is an option, though it is quite a hike from the bus stop up to the fortress. but if you're on a tight budget it can be done.
