St Kitts' beautiful Sandy Point was the setting for a dramatic story which changed the life of a foul mouthed slave trader who then went on to pen one of the most famous and well-loved songs of all time. "Amazing Grace".

We hired a taxi to take us to the Fort and Amazing Grace Experience. We were very short on time, but I didn't want to miss this opportunity to learn the background of the greatest Christian hymn. We were able to view the video and...More

Family of 4 travelling with 2 teens. I've sung this song many times and even played it in the church band, but never knew the 'full' story behind the song. This humble stop in St. Kitts was, yes, Amazing. No matter your spiritual beliefs, John...More

We LOVED the Amazing Grace Experience and highly recommend it. Though there is a small museum that comprises a timeline and detailed (executive summaries in bold were great) history of John Newton, the song’s composer, the core of the attraction is a 1--15 minute video...More

Visiting as part of a cruise ship arranged tour I found the whole experience truly wonderful. Both hosts at the experience were friendly and knowledgable and their sense of engagement with the history of Rev Newton, his colourful life and in particular the history of...More

A truly wonderful experience. Every man can and should identify with the hymn Amazing Grace by John Newton. At 82, Newton said, "My memory is nearly gone, but I remember two things, that I am a great sinner, and that Christ is a great Saviour."...More

Extremely interesting visit. As well as covering Wesley's life in great detail. His becoming a Christian began the long road to the abolition of slavery, although sadly this still exists in some parts of the world. Well worth the visit.

We will be in St. Kitt's on a cruise. Is it easy to take a local bus to see AGE? Where would we get it near the cruise pier? Any idea of price? Any idea of approx. taxi cost? We want to see this attraction first and then go to the beach. I realize they are in opposite directions. Wondering if we went to see AGE then back to the port would there still be anyone around to take us to the beach. I've been quoted over $150US to do both of these things on a private tour but I can't afford that. Any suggestions appreciated.

Thank you for the suggestion of the local bus which I would certainly have done but before I received your answer I booked with one of the tour operators. Our cruise is on the 18th so I was getting anxious.
Your map is showing that this attraction is on Nevis. Are you sure? I think it is on St. Kitt's.

You can take a taxi or a local bus. Amazing Grace Experience is in Sandy Point and located right on the Main Road which runs around the island in the Lighthouse Baptist Church.
