I absolutely love the natural beauty at Romney Manor which is the home of Caribelle Batik. The garden is amazing. The store is a must visit....Upon entry it offers a small demonstration of the Batik making process then you shop Batik everything from gifts, souvenirs even household items. Simply amazing!!!

Gorgeous gardens hidden away! We spent about 1 hour here just strolling around and taking in the beauty!
All staff were very friendly and nice to learn about culture and history whilst taking in the views.
We are travelling with our toddler and it is v child friendly.

Fascinating history from 1600’s includes slave trading and then freeing them. Ownership of the plantation went from Carib Indian (Kalinago) chief Tegereman to Sam Jefferson, whose lineage includes Thomas Jefferson (3rd US president) to British Lord Romney. There’s also the huge Saman tree from 1617, the Manor House from 1628 and the Bell Tower from 1834. The Shop, Fountain and Bar complete the picture. Serene and picturesque gardens with a few benches for those to drink in the impressive scenery in that warm tropical glow.

A beautiful old manor house and gardens right beside the ruins of a former sugar plantation. The highlight is the Batik demonstration and shop.

This is an easy excursion from Basseterre, around at the half way from the capital to Brimstone fortress.
By the premises entrance is a big parking lot. Entry fee is only 3$, kids are free.
House in vivid colors is really beautiful, but the gardens are stunning.
Inside the house they explain the batik process and there's a store with pretty high prices.
The visit will consume only around half an hour of your time and is very cheap.

You don't need long to see the beautiful grounds, stunning view and interesting batik technique, but it is well worth going! The batiks are gorgeous--I'm having a hard time giving up the ones I purchased for gifts!

This was a cruise excursion tour. The grounds are lush and beautiful! There is not an exhibit or even photos of Samuel Jefferson or the family. It’s mainly about the high priced souvenir shop! It’s a lovely place for photo ops and restroom breaks.

I expected there was going to be a tour of Samuel Jefferson's plantation home here, but no, only part of the foundation remains. Very misleading and disappointing. No exhibits about his life or the history of the place. There are a few pretty plants and an impressive tree, but nothing I would deem a botanical gardens as the area is quite small. There is a nice bar area if you are on your own and have time to just sit. Mostly this is just a store to buy batik. The local artisans do a great job, but it is rather pricey. I realize it is a time consuming process, but still pricey. Not my thing. Just a 15 min. stop. I thought this place was connected to the Wingfield Estate ruins, but they are two separate places and not walking distance. Make sure you stop at the ruins first before proceeding down the road to the manor.

We mostly walked the grounds as we are already familiar with batiking. They had a good demonstration of batiking and a great selection of items made on site.
We walked down to the historic rum distillery. The ruins are impressive. The signage tells the story of the distillery and rum making in that era.

Great intro to this art form and reasonable prices for pieces created onsite. Interesting estate with a lot of history. Beautiful gardens and spectacular 400 year old tree.

Good shops in Charlestown on Nevis, good shopping in Rams, there is a store on the road towards Sandy Point Town on the outskirts of Basse Terre.

Admission is just a few bucks. We hired a taxi to take us to Manor & fort. He knew more than the bus tours. He came in the Manor & Fort with us. You do not have to pay admission for your taxi driver .
