When you get in to the town after passing the National Museum the first thing you will see is this big Memorial clock at The Circus. It's a bit to bad it is in a middle of a very busy street, it would have been nicer to have it in the park close-bye.

Most visitors to Basseterre, do not get beyond the cruise village that adjoins the cruise ship pier. However, if you go through the archway in the National Museum at the edge of the cruise village, you come to a much different world. It is not one targeted at tourists but rather where the people of the island live. Just from... More

This is a different memorial - large and so imposing and it's located in it's own space in a colourful square in the centre of the capital. A cultural area with which the well cared for memorial fits well. If you're about do have a look.

There is some impressive Victorian and Georgian architecture to see around the Berkley Memorial Clock Tower which is in the middle of a junction in Basseterre. Blink and you will miss this caribbean piccadily circus!

Not a lot to really 'see' here... but you will not miss this monument as it sits in the center of the main roundabout. A bit rundown, and should be given more care and attention.

This monument is the center of town, and was built in honor of Thomas Berkeley, a former president of the General Council in the 1880s. The monument had 4 different clock faces.

The Berkeley Memorial is the Big Ben of St Kitts, positioned in the centre of "the Circus" (named after Piccadilly Circus). Obviously, the Memorial looks nothing like Big Ben, any more than The Circus looks like Piccadilly Circus. It's humour - like having a bathtub in your back yard and saying "I'm going to go lay by the pool". It's... More

As part of our tour of St. Kitts we viewed this lovely old weathered clock (not keeping time), in the center of a roundabout in the heart of Basseterre. We dined at Ballahoo where we also had a great view of the clock and the traffic circle activity....and all our Canadian banks! Part of the Basseterre experience down at Port... More

If you're in Bassterre anyway you can't help but bump into the memorial. I won't give the significance away, so you'll still have a reason to visit yourself. Very close to all the Canadian banks so if you're doing any banking it's only steps away. I wouldn't make a special trip to see it though.
