Not Much To See

It all depends what one expects, but this market did not turn me on. The island has a lot of water. However, the produce on the market is lacking both variety and quality. The trinkets, all over the market, are all the same as on any other Caribbean island. The only difference is that this market is a touch more... More

The market place was ok to see the local way of life, but there's not much here and in general the capital. Busy, with lots of traffic. Only about 3 main streets to walk around to see the sights. Unfortunately a fairly poor area. Didn't seem to be a lot of historical British investment put into this country, or signs... More

Book an excursion! The port area is a fairly run down port, at the end of a far from booming town, blighted by chaotic traffic and a gaggle of unofficial taxi tours (of variable quality I was told). Once out of the port you'll stumble into Kingstown which is dominated by its market activity. You'll find locals in the streets... More

Very busy chaotic and dirty. It should be more organised and better kept. Not many food places but police officer recommended The Altitude sports bar on 3rd floor opposite The financial centre. Good for and drinks and views to the harbour

This market is where locals come to buy and sell goods of all kinds. You will find everything from fruits, vegetables, breads, BBQ items, and more. As it's geared to locals you won't find a lot is souvenirs and tourist items. You will also need to be prepared to barter, and even walk away if you don't like the price.... More

I personally loved this place as it was unspoilt by tourism but with that you do have to be streetwise. Most people are great but there are a few you have to be wary of. Lively atmosphere.

We went on a Saturday ($60 cab ride RT!) and were told by our hotel (Buccament Bay) incorrectly, that as long as we got there by noon, we'd have plenty of time to walk around and see everything. Wrong! The place essentially closes down at 1:00 pm, with many stores were not open at all, and many vendors had already... More

The goods on offer are wonderfully colourful and luscious. If you need any produce this is the place to visit as the variety is quite good. The vendors weren't rowdy or demanding. I wish it were cleaner and more organised but it serves its purpose.

Whether you're staying on St. Vincent or provisioning for a stay shipboard or on another island, you owe it to yourself to go to this market. Years ago the government built a market building in an effort to clear the streets of vendors, but it's never worked. Nowadays you'll find vendors along the streets _and_ in the market building, though... More

wonderful spot and a great market. This place stocks local produce sold by locals. The market houses all the sights, smells and sounds of this bustling port town. A true slice of life in the caribbean town.
