Castara is only beginning to be a tourist town so is relatively unaffected by tourism at the current time. There are two beaches, the main beach and Little Bay. The main beach has life guards most of the time and the sea can be a little rough. Little bay is calmer and lovely to swim in when you are past... More

Nice little village with a beautiful beach and a few restaurants. In fact, it's probably the nicest village in Tobago. It's good place to spend a few days and go explore. We stayed 8 nights.

There's a beautiful view of the bay and beaches from the approach road coming in from the west. Two bays separated by some rocks. It has a local community feel. Fishermen mending nets and other locals. Then there are the few tourists who stay in one of the available stay options. This was probably the most touristy of the leeward... More

Amazing. We loved it. There were so many large herons swooping down and catching birds here, and a lot of local dogs to pet. The people were super friendly and made us happy.

Proper Tobago community. Perfect. Fishermen working from the beach. The restaurants revolve their opening times to help each other. Where else can you see that?

Our hotel is lovely but on the other side of the island to this and rather unsheltered. We found this when we hired a car for 2 days and wanted a drink and swim. This is quite a small quiet place but there are 2 or 3 hotels/restaurants and a supermarket. The beach is beautiful, sandy but with nice shady places... More

Wonderful village very nice people and a very laid back feel 'You need to go with the flow'and not expect European standard road signage as I overheard one visitor complain. If you like watching life go by with the odd couple of chickens roaming the beach then this is your thing. There are no night clubs or attractions just rain... More

Castara is not a resort full of hotels but a working fishing village that is also set up for tourism. There are a couple of beach bars, plenty of restaurants of all levels, mini-markets for provisions etc. The beaches are beautiful although when we were there, they were having an usually large swell so the lifeguards had red flags up...
