the reef itself is not very colorful, most likely due to climate change and environmental pressures. there were many pretty fish which was encouraging to see. i was glad to see the reef protected by ropes so people don't accidentally step on it

Snorkeling at Coral Gardens was decent, but much better at Smiths Reef. Saw eagle rays, turtles and even a 4 ft shark at Smiths

I definitely recommend going to bight reef. If possible walk along the beach to the reef. Bring your own snorkel gear or you can rent from a local on the beach. I saw more sea life at this reef than when we did a more...More

Saw the most amazing array of fish and coral here and so close to the beach. Loved snorkeling in this area, although parking is an issue.

We visited the reef 3 times this visit. The time we arrived at 7:30 am we were the only ones there. The sheer volume of beautiful fish and coral was amazing. It's a national treasure just 15 yards from the shore. There is a man...More

We arrived at 9am today so my husband and boys could explore the reef, we ended up staying the full day. The chair rental fee from the beach attendant was totally reasonable for two chairs and an umbrella. This provided a nice bit of shade...More

Coral Gardens and Windsong are right across from the reef. We have stayed at both resorts and had amazing experiences at both! Coral Gardens is nice enough, and very convenient, but is unfortunately right next to an... More

What time do we need to arrive for an optimal reef snorkeling exploration? Where can we rent the gear, and where do we go to access the Bight reef? With thanks, Terry Sullivan 416 219 2815

We had our own equipment but there are a few rental places on the island. We snorkelled late morning and had the beach to ourselves. Grab a map at the airport.
