One of the best beaches on the island!

This beach is as beautiful as one would imagine a beach in Zihuatanejo would be! In case you did not know, this is where the final scene in the Shawshank Redemption was filmed... read more

Took a tour out here, interesting tour, but the beach is only open to the public at certain times, I think just on the weekends, and for organized tours. Beautiful sands, some wildlife, mostly birds, and really blue water, just wish you could go out when you want to.

This beach is as beautiful as one would imagine a beach in Zihuatanejo would be! In case you did not know, this is where the final scene in the Shawshank Redemption was filmed where this beach was said to be in Mexico. Its only open on the weekends and closes during turtle nesting season. Great place for a picnic lunch... More

The color of the water is enough to stun you. I have never seen so many shades of blue. Sands and beach were equally as pristine as the water. When open this is a beach you don't want to miss. By far my favorite on the Island. Maybe the best in the Caribbean. Not much cover for fish but there... More

Remote. Longish drive on gravel roads to get there. You keep driving until you can't anymore. Dream beach as far as sand, location, water, and scenery. There is kind of a big drop when you first go in the water, so be prepared. At least, that's what's we experienced. It wasn't gradual like some beaches are. Be prepared to be... More

Very beautiful beach for an afternoon. This is only open on weekends due to the nesting area for turtles. We didn't see any and the beach is mostly for swimming and not much for snorkeling. There are no facilities so plan the bathroom and necessities in advance. There is no shade so bring and umbrella or good sunscreen. A nice... More

Wow wow and wow. I am so glad I researched when this beach would be open, if we could have, we would have gone back everyday we were in St. Croix. Miles of white sand, calm water (break is a little rough) and stunning photo ops. Hardly any people around and you can pick your spot and not be disturbed.... More

The long white sand beach reminded me of the Outer Banks in North Carolina. It is an unspoiled/undeveloped beach with literally hundreds of turtle nesting sites, some active. We saw dozens of tiny turtle prints in the sand from two separate nests that had hatched out, apparently the previous night. There are two ways in: dirt road from the west... More

This beach has silky soft sand, incredibly clear water and is rarely crowded. Only downside is there is no shade, but we could stay out the water so it didn't matter! Even saw dolphins! Highly recommend.

Three beach areas, but only open on weekends (or when cruise ships in port). Also closed during turtle nesting season. We were there early (10:00 am) on a Saturday and only a few folks were around. Easy to find a quiet place on the beach - but no facilities (restrooms/concessions/etc)

This is place to go for a great beach. There is nothing here but the beach. It is spectacular. Almost 3 miles from end to end. Gentle slope great for walking. The two days we were ther had different wave conditions. One almost calm the other with 2 to 3 foot waves. You can wade out a long way and... More
