Lovely beaches. Quiet area.

If you are visiting St. Croix and did not come in by a cruise ship, you are probably spending most of your time in Christiansted. Don't miss seeing Frederiksted. Frederiksted is the smaller town of the two towns on St Croix and it is practically empty when no ship is in. But that's when it is the most charming. When... More

Rented a house on the beach and much preferred it to Christiansted. Snorkeling at Rainbow beach and the Pier, swimming at glass beach, driving through the rainforest (go on a weekend between 11-3pm and stop at the bakery hut - it's fantastic).

So say all the advertisements for this part of the island. Though not a tourist friendly as other parts of the island we enjoy staying on this side. We like the island feel and the escape from the tourism of Christisnsted.

The town has a nice and pretty walk along the water. There aren't as many stores as Christiansted, and they close at 5pm. It's quieter here. The pier can be walked on as long as a ship isn't in port. I wouldn't plan a whole day here, but a few hours is sufficient. Polly's has excellent breakfast sandwiches.

Don't pay attention to anyone who tells you that it is dangerous on the West side or you have to go to the other side of the island for action and fun. Or better yet DO pay attention to them so we don't get overrun here! The real St. Croix is here...

A poor man's new orleans---very small town. Buildings not maintained and falling apart. If visiting would only go during the day

we were lucky as there was a ship in port so a lot of the little shops were open, a lot of repeat stuff in them but we found a few gems. I would have loved to have stayed longer, to be able to enjoy the beach more and to maybe take a charter out fishing. We only had a... More

Frederiksted was kinda boring. A lot of stores don't open up if a cruise ship isn't in port. You also have to be careful and midful of your surroundings. There are homeless people and we were almost a victim of theft. We were being watched on the beach by 3 men waiting for us to go into the water together... More

This is a nice little town. Most of the people were friendly but we got some dirty looks when we walked off the main road more than one block away from the beach where tourists usually stay. We didn't feel unsafe though, just a little out of our element. There were quite a few shops and restaurants but a lot... More

The island of St. Croix consists of Frederiksted and Christiansted. While you are there, there's no reason not to indulge and see both towns. If you are adventurous and don't mind driving on the left-hand side of the road - rent a car and take a leisurely drive. The architecture is stunning and you'll get a feel of the various... More
