The only way to get to St. John with a rental from St. Thomas is on the car ferry. It is old, slow and dirty. But it gets you there. There are two companies and they do not reciprocate on tickets. So if you buy...More

Our entire visit to St. Thomas was filled with friendly and helpful people, except at the terminals for the ferry - strange, but we found the people working there abrupt, unhelpful and rude to the point that we decided not to use the ferry again...More

It’s a short ride, and loved the views. We sat at the top so we could take it all in. And if you’re staying on St. Thomas, going to St. John is totally worth it.

I researched and read about what to expect when traveling via car ferry. Honestly I was a bit nervous because of the information online. it doesn’t say really when the busy hours are, just that it might be and you could end up waiting two...More

Perhaps it was bad luck but staff not friendly or very helpful. Ferry on time and currently leaves every hour on the hour for Cruz Bay If you are arriving from airport give yourself a good hour to get to Red Hook

We took the car ferry from St. Thomas to St. John and back. We had read that we should expect to wait because of all the construction traffic going back and forth so we have ourselves extra time. The staff at the ports appear to...More

Yes, there are two different ferries. One thing you might consider is many of the rentals in St. John are brand new Jeeps; which are probably better vehicles for the island. We got a beat up car in St. Thomas; and... More

The ferry runs on the hour most of the day so you could manage a quick trip. it runs more frequently early am for workers during the week. Bars and shops are easy walking distance from the port in St. John.
