The ferry to St. John and back is super easy! 15 minutes and you are there. The ferry is clean and efficient leaving on the hour and on time. $14 round trip is decent and $2 round trip for kids is a deal!

On the ride from St Thomas to St. John, a guy met us at our taxi and took our bags on to his cart. We weren't sure what was going on so we let him take them. You have to pay for each large bag...More

Great way to travel quickly and cheaply to St John! The workers are not the friendliest people but the ferry gets you where you're going.

Traveling via the ferry was easy but it is hard to say whether to get there an hour ahead and have to sit with your car, however if you don't then you might have to wait for the next ferry. Great trip across the water.

1. The port people say arrive 25 minutes ahead of time; we arrived 45 minutes ahead of time and just made it on the ferry going over in the morning. 2. Be able to reverse-drive well. They want you have the cars very close. In...More

Good ferry, at busy times, get there early, especially when workers get off and travel back to the larger island.

Yes, there are two different ferries. One thing you might consider is many of the rentals in St. John are brand new Jeeps; which are probably better vehicles for the island. We got a beat up car in St. Thomas; and... More

The ferry runs on the hour most of the day so you could manage a quick trip. it runs more frequently early am for workers during the week. Bars and shops are easy walking distance from the port in St. John.
