The good news: this world-class stretch of white sand and turquoise water is St. John's most photographed beach, which features a marked underwater trail for beginning snorkelers. The bad news: because of its popularity, it can get very crowded with cruise ship passengers and members of sightseeing tours.

We were very excited for our trip to Trunk Bay. The sand is beautiful powder and the water turquoise blue. We had 6 children with us to snorkel. When we arrived - we got food at the food stand and it was surprisingly good! The...More

Trunk bay offers amazing sand, shade to relax in and one of the best (based on easily accessible) placed to snorkel with a snorkel trail setup. The waves are low so its easy to snorkel here. The beach will get busy as cruise ships come...More

While the beach is beautiful, almost all of the coral is dead. For those who don't know what a healthy reef should look like, they won't realize how much of an underwater graveyard this bay has become. The park service needs to implement "no snorkel"...More

I felt like a celebrity on a million dollar vacation while visiting this beach. It seemed private and quiet. My husband and i arrived early, so early that the ticket counter was not open yet so our addmission was free. It seemed we were there...More

We visited trunk bay after a day of hiking the Reef Bay Trail. It was a rainy day with only brief moments of sunshine and we still enjoyed this gorgeous beach! There are amenities here, but they close very early so that's something to be...More

This was only my second time snorkeling but with an ocean as beautiful as trunk bay I would go again in a heartbeat. The water is a turquoise blue and you can see the white sand below you. Gorgeous! Family fun at this beach.

Spent a day here last week. Pretty beach, but the snorkel trail is just ok. Better snorkeling on some of the other beaches around the island. Obviously, anywhere on the island is pretty, just some better snorkeling choices.

Great snorkeling for beginners, nice facilities, beautiful sand,.....what else is there? Gets busy on Cruise Ship days, so choose wisely.

Trunk Bay is a great way to start your stay on St. John. Just beautiful! Love having the shower and restroom facilities. The snorkeling was much better than our visit two years ago. My son had fun chasing two large parrot fish around the snorkel...More

Yes, it is worth it, but Maho is better. Take a taxi to either and you don't have to worry about parking. Trunk has good snorkeling. Maho has sea turtles. Either is a must.

The taxis on St. Thomas (port) and St. John (truck bay location) are usually open safari trucks. Usually four rows of bench seats, covered, with entry on the drivers side. No seat belts. I couldn't imagine how a car seat... More
