Go to Hawksnest for the incredible elks horn coral formations. Be careful of the sea urchins - do not touch. Gorgeous water and sand - a great place for a day with the family. We generally visit Hawksnest at least twice whenever we are in...More

This was the first time we actually stayed at this beach. On previous trips it always seemed very narrow and very quiet....great unless you get into trouble and no one is there to help you. But thanks to the storms that went through the islands,...More

Hawksnest Beach was the best beach we visited. No crowds, easy to get to and parking, and the waters were calm.

We traveled there before the hurricane and wish them a speedy recovery. Wow this one of the prettiest beaches I have been to. It gets full pretty quickly so get there early, there are great views in every direction.

Because it's close, go early, before 10AM. If you're in St John and have a car, go at 8AM, even if you think that people on vacation rarely should get up before noon. All the beaches on the North shore drive have a western exposure,...More

Went there today for 2 hours; was awesome. Lots of parking, not crowded. The coral is right off the beach and has thousands of fish; the current brings you back to the beach so it works out great for weaker swimmers. Crystal clear water. For...More

Hawksnest is a smaller beach but very wonderful to visit and snorkel. The water is beautiful and clear with many fish to see. We even saw a skate that was very close to the beach.
