Nassau Public Library & Museum (Bahamas) - Nice, Large Library

My wife and I enjoyed a nice vacation in Paradise Island, Bahamas. We went to the Nassau Public Library & Museum. The library is the largest library in the Bahamas.

It was quite hot and stuffy inside, with very very old books. Not much room to maneveur. Not really much to see.

As a book with a very nice Cover and a average content, it's the perfect example for this place, the architecture is pretty colorful on the outside, it attracts the attention and invite to came in, but already In the inside, isn't impressing as you could imagine but it's pretty good to visit

We popped our heads in this tiny library and it was amazing. The structure was once a colonial jail, dating back to 1797, when it became the first building in Parliament Square. Per Wikipedia, "The building is said to have been inspired by the Old Powder Magazine in Williamsburg, Virginia. It was converted into a library in 1873. The small... More

You can still see evidence that this beautiful library used to be a jail. Sit, cool off, and browse the collection in this historic site.

This building is a really neat piece of Bohemian architecture. It was originally a jail cell that was converted into a library. In addition it is octagon in shape and pink! If you take any of the band tours they will pass by this building allowing you to take pictures. You can also walk to this building from the cruise... More

The building is still in use, so inside you are in an actual library where the walls and floors are full of books and newspaper clippings. Defenitely worth to have a quick look to expereince the atmosphere, but not a real museum-ish experience. The small parc in front is nice as well.

This is a quiet area, not too far from the hustle and bustle of the Bay Street shopping strip and the quite considerable (one-way traffic) that passes by the Library. Regrettably, I found I don't have a photo of it from the front, only from the back. An oversight on my part, as it's quite a pretty building. There are... More

The real draw of the library is the outside. It's so pretty, make sure you go around to the back!! There's a WWII memorial and a nice little garden. You can get a better view of the library architecture too. He inside is worth seeing but it is very small and no pictures allowed. Cool though in any case!

this is a tiny cubby hole of a place, but it is really neat to just look inside at the very unusual octagonal room and it is so historic and reeking with charm. i hope this is now 100 characters...
