Forfar is a great place to stay if you are into ecotourism or want to experience the beauty of Andros up close. The property sits on Blanket Sound, which is (quite literally) one of the most beautiful beaches you will ever see. The facilities are not to be compared with Atlantis...it is for a different type of traveler. It is... More

This was my fourth trip to Forfar, twice 30 years ago and then again last year and now just got back from our 2015 field study. We bring a group of middle school students down for Ocean/Island Discovery Camp and the facility and staff are just absolutely amazing. The place hasn't changed since it was built, save for a few... I came 11 summers ago (2003) on a high school field trip and am super excited to have found it again on TripAdvisor! The experience was priceless, eventful, and ever relaxing. As teenagers, we realized how privelaged we were in the US with central air, ice, and unlimited fresh water. After the first day of adjusting, we were place in... More

Forfar Field Station was given credit as the real location (called Rockwood Field Station) in the recently released novel "Legend of Hornigold's Treasure". Anyone who has visited Forfar should read this novel. You'll love it!

I visited this amazing educational facility with relatives of Archie Forfar (founder of the Field Station.) It's a well run facility that offers college students the opportunity to learn about the ecology of the island, to get their PADI scuba certification, learn to sail, etc. The instructors are very dedicated and the students we met have a great appreciation for... Forfar field station is amazing. That's all I have to say. I went there in May with Clark Montessori as a marine biolgy study. There were 22 of us. I enjoyed that trip so much. We stayed at the field Station for 3 nights, than on the Forfar boats at Fresh Creek for 4 nights. I enjoyed the field Station... More

I stayed at Forfar field station last year at age 13. I have to say, even without my family, for i traveled with my science teacher and about 15 of my friends, my trip to Forfar was amazing. The best vacation ive ever been on. The snorkeling was awesome, and each day we went out on about a 6 hour... More

If you want a true eco-experience, this is it. I travelled with my Dad and brother for a true "boys'" escape. We are NOT the "eco" types at all. However, the staff and accomodations have us reconsidering our future trips. It was educational and rustic. I will be back.

I had only been on a plane trip once, lol, a few months before. I was 17 and I went with my Biology 2 Gt class. There was 20 of us. We stayed at Forfar. We got out of the taxis and I walked up to the beach. All I could do was stare at the amazing blue of the... More

I spent about ten weeks in a cabin at Forfar, learning about the local flora and fuana, scubadiving, sailing, windsurfing, snorkling, and being immersed in the culture of the island. I must say that it was one of the most exciting trips I have ever taken. The staff there for the most part are great. They always took care of... More
