Worth the hike if you're on Cat Island.

Amazing workmanship. Smaller than you'd think, but a labor of love, to be sure. The stations of the cross are pretty cool. If you go during the week you'll have the place to... read more

The front route is a bit steep but go round the back for an easy route. Better on a dry day as wee bit muddy if its been raining. The views from the top are great.

A cool, small structure with stunning views of Cat Island. Definitely take the walk up the more direct route with illustrations of Christ's journey to crucifixion. Given the lack of real cultural attractions for Cat Island, this might be your only chance while there!

A very short walk but it can be a little tough if you have kids. We really enjoyed the hike and seeing what the builder accomplished on this remote mountain top!

The climb is well worth it!! You will go back in time when you visit the Hermitage and the surrounding mountain side. The view of this beautiful Island is a great backdrop for a lovely picnic with the blue sky just above and the glories blue water all around.. Take the time to enjoy the day at the Hermitage.

An interesting site to see! A great miniature version of the temple. Nice climb and a gorgeous view of the island.

The Hermitage is a beautiful place with a rich history for Cat Island. The climb to the site was a unique experience. Imagining Father Jerome cutting the stones and carrying them up the hill to make a monument that has lasted for so long was overwhelming. Reaching the top takes your breath away. The view of the island and sea... More

We felt like we where taken back in time, a short hike up the hill and we were at this amazing landmark. We enjoyed the lunch we brought and then explored with the kids. It's beautiful and peaceful.

Not only fascinating history but it is the highest point in all the Bahamas. Wear sneakers for the hike up and dont forget your camera.

This was a nice hike to the top of the Bahamas. The views are beautiful and you can see from one side of the island to the other.
