Youngest Castle in Wales built of stone. Started by William Ap Thomas around 1435. The young Henry Tudor whom became Henry VII spent some of his childhood here at Raglan. The tour last just over an hour & starts outside the Castle then up to the Gate House, cobbled Court Yard (where horses would come in), the Great Hall, Fountain... More

Slightly confused with the parking....everybody seemed to park around the edge of what looked like a circular entrance road...no clear instructions. Entry fee was quite reasonable and the info boards in each area were very informative. Even though it had obviously rained a lot during the night, the pebbly areas and the grassy areas felt quite safe to walk on.... More

Visited on a misty February morning with the family (4 boys aged from 2 to 12 years) - the light drizzle added to the atmosphere! Nice to have the 'hunt sheets' the children were given at the entrance as it did help to increase their enjoyment of the place. A good few hours spent here exploring the rooms still in... More

We went as family, including our dog, and it was interesting to discover some local history. It is perfect for dog owners because it's all outside. However, for a ruin, it was a bit pricey.

We were keen for a bit of local history and decided on a visit to Raglan. The site is really impressive; full of fascinating history and packed with awe inspiring architecture. The ruins have several flights of stairs but it's worth a climb to the higher levels as the views are spectacular. If you're visiting in the Winter, it's worth... More

We so this castle when we were driving back from our in-laws and it was too pretty not to visit. If you like castles you will like this one too. The view from the tower is amazing and I am pretty sure in summer is ever better.

A few steps to negotiate, plenty of info boards dotted around, it didn't rain on our visit but the ground was a bit muddy in places, but oh it was worth it just wandered about taking photographs spent a good 2 -3 hours here if the sun shone could have been here longer, a little gift shop selling the normal... This is an amazing castle and you can imagine what it looked like in its heyday. It covers a huge area and has lots of stairs if you want to climb to the top of some of the towers. We went on a misty day but the views on a sunny day would be absolutely marvellous

Went there with the family, had a great day out. Spent about 2 hours there. There's also a cafe nearby.

Having passed by many times when traveling along the A40 we made the effort to visit. What an enjoyable surprise! This is more than just a ruined castle (Cromwell has a lot to answer for!). It has lots of rooms and points of interest. Great for children who like to explore and the history is well explained for adults. Staff... More
