It was beautifully planted and a peaceful place to just sit and be quiet for a few minutes. The age of the ruins seemed to enhance the quiet, even when family came to see the ruins, it still seemed peaceful

Without giving a history lesson, these ruins of a very important Cistercian Abbey were once the biggest in Wales. The Neath area has an incredible history and the Abbey is justly famous - as the artist impression shows - it was huge. Neath abbey ruins. Will you see a ghost? I found the atmosphere here almost electric. Beautiful setting besides the canal.

Beautifully kept grounds around well preserved ruins. A lovely place to have wedding / prom photos taken. Magical on a lovely sunny day.

i live down the road from this place see it often dont have to pay to get it as its free plenty of space to walk around s[ace to park the car and thats free as well

Always worth a look around Neath Abbey is an amazing glimpse in to the past. Over the last two hundred years it has been surrounded by heavy industry to a point that you wonder how it ever survived. Neath Abbey is a stunning attraction to visit for many reasons. If you want a romantic walk as a couple, a family visit, or just for some quiet contemplation, this is a perfect venue to do it. If you like history, architecture or just lovely scenery, then this place is well worth a visit!

If you have 20 minutes to spare then this ruin could meet your requirements. Main issue that there was 1 information board at the entrance which told you about the religious order that lived there but nothing about the abbey.

Off the beaten track slightly but well worth a visit. You get the feeling that you are being watched as you walk around the ruined Abbey, perhaps it is just a vivid imagination or is it. Nice place to learn about the history. Nice place for a picnic. Been on many school trips here, fun memories that will stay with me til the end of time.
