Lovely spot for a walk before lunch in the Seafood Cabin

This is a beautifully located castle, with sensational views to Arran. A great spot to take the kids as well as there are lots of nooks and crannies to run around and hide in..

Very quirky much modified castle with an interesting history. Great views from the top after negotiating the spiral staircase

Lovely castle, great to wonder around or cycle to from the ferry from Lochranza, turn right and cycle along the shore though skip ness village. The castle is right next to the skip nests seafood cabin open in the summer on Sunday's, and the new smokehouse. All family owned. Just hoping they will be selling there smoked fish from here,!

As other reviewers have said this is a great little spot. Not a huge amount there and not a lot of info on the castle for history buffs but for a little wander round, great views from the castle roof top, a walk along the beach and round the graveyard, finished off with a trip to the Seafood Cabin combine... We visited the castle with the chapel and seafood cabin making a nice half day. The castle has some maintenance taking place, the interior is empty but with some information about how it would have looked. The view from the top is well worth the climb to see the view. The chapel which is a short walk away has loads... More

A trip to Skipness is worth it if you are out that way anyway. The ruin castle, the graveyard, the beach and the Seafood Cabin combine for a great outing. It was horribly dreich when we visited but I can imagine that the views and setting on a sunny day must be spectacular.
