A short walk along the coast leads to the ruined castle. It's not really worth a visit unless you happen to be walking along the coast path anyway but it does make a nice destination for a short 20 minute walk from the church.

We headed out to the castle from St Monans Kirk but were really disappointed. It’s a fabulous setting, but there’s no information at all. I read something in our holiday home about it being the childhood home of Alexander III? Would that not merit a...More

Kids loved exploring the Castle. It is a ruin and it looks like some parts could fall down at any minute so not sure how safe it is.

How wonderful to wake up in the morning, open the curtains to a spectacular view of the castle, fields, the sea and Edinburgh across the water.

Standing quite close to St Monans this castle is in a slightly better condition than the neighbouring castle at Ardross. You are able to walk inside the ground floor . The Castle has no signs depicting the history or the original design ,this would be...More

Had a walk along the coastal path whilst in the St Monans area today to have a look at Newark Castle, or rather what's left of it. The easiest and shortest route to get to it is via the coastal path at the end of...More

On approaching the castle, I was quite anxious that it wouldn't live up to my expectations. But now I can safely say it surpassed everything I could have ever wanted. The castle faces onto the sea, providing beautiful views of the coast. There were authentic...More
