Great hiking trip.
Feb 2021
After not getting out for a couple of weeks this was a wonderful hiking adventure as start of the season. Right now the snow has largely melted, and the paths are nice and not slippery anymore. Some are a tad tight, and some trees fell on the path (so be prepared for a bit of climbing over them), but what nice views from all the rocks, a real cute canyon landscape. We did first climb up in Beuron up to Eichfelsen and then back down to the valley. Don't forget to checkout the panoramic points which are often just 100-200 m off the main trail, but offer spectacular views. In case you want to use public transport, there is a train line running through most of the valley. For those interested in art, stop by the Beuron monastery for a short break too. Right now all the restaurants etc are closed, but on our trail we passed a couple of those too, so let's hope at latest by next year some of those are back in business.

Now for the hiking itself, you cover distance but nothing too harsh in terms of climb or descent again after, none of us had a muscle ache the next day at least, and that's after a 13.5 km round trip hike.

For kids maybe do only parts along the ridge and a bit walking down, or just either the climb or the descent.

Climbing, biking, walking in picturesque settings
Aug 2020
If you follow your GPS to ‘Naturpark Obere Donau’ you’ll reach a tiny parking lot. Across the road is a little gap in the fence - here you will find a narrow path leading to multiple climbing and trekking opportunities.

Picturesque mountains and deep forest is surrounding you at this spot, so don’t forget your camera/smartphone.

It’s not the easiest place to walk or ride your MTB, it’s more like a paradise for climbers and adventurers.

If you want to find easier trekking and bycicling routes, go to nearby Housen im Tal. Here you’ll find a much bigger parking lot and signs that point out lots of nice tracks, also for non-adrenalin junkies.

Great hike in the Danube Valley
Sep 2019 • Couples
I highly recommend this place for nature lovers!
There is so much to see and explore. Especially in the summer time you will see many hikers and bicyclists! You can also take a canoe ride on the Danube River.
Do not miss to try a piece of cake or have a meal in one of the numerous restaurants and cafes in the area!

Hike from Fridingen
Oct 2017 • Couples
The best views are close to Fridingen, and you don't probably will need to walk all the way to the next town if you are short on time. So stick to the ones nearby, since the farther away the less impressive the vistas are.

Stunning valley with lots to see
Jun 2017 • Family
This whole area of Germany is stunningly beautiful, with its mountains and valleys, and on every crest and hilltop, there's a ruin or a castle. This valley is no different - there are some breath-taking viewpoints, a world-renowned cloyster in Beuron, a few castles to see... lots to choose from, and all within 20 minutes drive. Perfect on a good-weather day!

gorgeous little valley
Sep 2016 • Friends
very nice little valley where the Danube river is still very small but the valley with its impressive lime rocks is breathtaking especially in fall, when the leaves change colour
