Although this is well off the beaten track it's well worth a visit Park near the Gloup - then walk from the car park to the Gloup turn left and then continue for about a mile to the Brough of Deerness along the signposted path...More

A short walk from the car park is the Gloup. Gives the wow factor and excellent for photos. Walked on from here to Mull Head. Steep cliffs so be very careful. Very muddy at bits too so wear appropriate footwear.

Went miles into the countryside to do the gloop. The kids and my wife were amazed at it. It is a real hidden gem in Orkney. It is great to see what nature is able to achieve. Great on a sunny day. Lots of birds...More

Windswept, heather, heath, rocky shorelines, dangerous and brooding. Okay, understand all that now as we visited the reserve, got off the beaten path, found another one and was awed by the scenery. Unfortunately it was too early to see Puffins, and it being a cold,...More

Go prepared to be blasted by the wind/ weather but it is stunning. The cliffs/waves/birds- loved it. Well worth a visit.

Do not make this trek without proper footwear and, for heavens sake, stay away from the extreme edges. There are no guardrails except near The Gloup - a collapsed sea cave that is worth experiencing, even if you do not take the long path around...More

Easy parking and short walk to the Gloup - well worth seeing and if it's a good day then a lovely walk around the headland. Very interesting site to see the action of water.
