Started the trail and the end of Jalan Carnation 2, the trail starts behind a building site and there is a small sign that says trail. The first photo is how the begining looks like. The first 3k of the trail are very steep and technical, going straight up over a lot of roots and then down through a steep slope which is quite overgrown. Then it flattens out and is easily walkable and you walk through the beautiful fields. It took us 3,5 hours with breaks.
We really liked the whole trail, a must is to download maps.me and download the Malaysia map so you know for sure where you are going.

Most of the trails are closed so 6 & 10 are the trails open to do and are definitely worth it. Lots of mixed information out there so here are the key points to know
-mapsme is a must to download
-we walked up trail 10 then back down a bit to find trail 6. Trail 6 doesn't have a sign
-starting point is the hardest part to find. Speak to your hotel/hostel or visit the tourist information session to get the info. The starting point is behind a fence at the end of carnation park. Sign for trail 10 isn't immediately visible.
-track can get quite muddy so if it's raining heavily wouldn't recommend. Get a stick or walking pole that will help a lot
-we are 4 moderately fit 30 year Olds. It took us 4 hours and its not too hard.
-prepare to get muddy so wear dark colours

8 nov 2022. Amazing but be prepared to do a steep and tough hike only for the fit. Can recommend for everyone who want to get into the real jungle but watch out for rain and be smart about when to do it.

Please be careful. It is now (july 2022) very slippery (even when its a dry day) and there grows a lot of trees and plants over the paths. Read the other review below mine

I am writing this purely to advise and look out for others thinking about doing trail 10. We did this yesterday and were told it was beginner - intermediate level. I don’t know who has come up with this but our experience of it was so dangerous and could of been deadly a handful of times if a foot was placed wrong. We are both athletes who have a very high fitness level and we thought this was difficult. The steps (tree roots) to the top were incredibly deep, anyone with knee problems don’t bother. It was overgrown, slippy, paths and steps were crumbling away. Clay (natural) paths has cracked and were very thin to walk across. I’m surprised there hasnt been more accidents or deaths. It should be totally blocked off or made safe.
The beginning of the trail takes you to a construction site, there is another beginning which we used through a housing estate but this slippy clay mountain was really dangerous to climb. It took us just under 3 hours to complete, then we walked to the tea plantations at the end.
We felt accomplished after and the endorphins had kicked in, but it could of gone alot differently. Please don’t do it, or do it knowing it is totally unsafe.

A well marked trail which is fairly moderate in difficulty. Can be quite easily done within an hour (each way). The start of the trail is walking distance from Tanah Rata town. The trail starts on a fairly gentle terrain but becomes moderately steep after 30 minutes and continues for another 20 minutes. The final 10 minutes is fairly flat. The peak is marked by a power transmission tower, located at the top of Gunung Jasar. It gives you a rewarding view of Cameron Highlands and the Tanah Rata town below.

It was quite an enjoyable hike and can be done with little to moderate levels of fitness.

Good trail that affords several good views of Tanah Rata. The trail start can be a little tricky to find, but take the advice of your guesthouse as there is a construction site at the starting point.

please use Sept 19 comment from budgetbucketlist for more detail if you plane to do the 10&6. It's a great hike! However, at the start, she mentions that the hike leaves from behind the weather station... I think she means the electrical substation! Save yourself the steep hill up to the weather station and take the road to the left. From thereon her directions are solid! (We actually started on 11, then linked to 10 pretty early on. Wonderful views - and, as you can imagine - the trails are empty (and somewhat overgrown!). Poles recommended. +/- 4 hours for a pair of lazy lockdown 40 somethings.

We actually combined parts of trails 5, 6 and finished on trail 10. It was spectacular, some parts of it quite steep but very enjoyable.

After reading the article "a complete hiking guide to Cameron highlands" from "bucketlistly blog", we decided to do the same trail as the blogger (a combination of trail 10 and 6), you'll find the circuit and the other trails in details on the blog...

The moderate hike in the forest was really nice, but once at the top, we found that the view was spoiled by some big buildings.
On our way down, we went throught trail 6, its first part was steep and very narrow as said in the article. At the end of the hike, we passed throught a tea plantation and because it is a private property, we had to pay 3Rm per person for passing from there.

The view of the tea plantations was nice but having seen many gorgeous ones in Sri Lanka, i should say that it was not that attracting for us. (Maybe we just became a little hard to please!)
