We have spent months in Mazatlan over our dozen or so visits. We love to walk the beaches and the long malecon. Playa Las Gaviotas runs past hotels and a few restaurants so that adds some interest. There are often parachutes being pulled into the sky by speed boats or small catamarans heading out for a sail. In some places... More

This long stretch of beach has many resorts with beachside bars and eating. During low tide you will have a great expanse of sand. There are many beach vendors selling everything you can imagine, also you can enjoy many water sports: kayaks, hobbies, jet ski, banana boat, parasailing, boogie boarding.

Shallow waters, good for young children, looks out to three islands. The sandy beach is a delight for long walks. Vendors ply the beach but with a simple 'no gracious' they continue on their way.

We walk the beach daily while we are in Mazatlan. We take our dogs with us & they have a blast. Lots of restaurants & bars along the beach.

Playa Gaviotas is a pleasant two mile stretch of white sand in the heart of Mazatlan's Gringoland. It is a lovely, but fairly ordinary beach which gets a little smaller each year as the tide rises (Global Warming?) So what makes this a special place that has drawn me back time and time again for over forty years? The answer... More

Gorgeous beach! Beautiful sand and water but please be wary that there are stingrays in the water. I got stung on March 3 and as I was writhing in agony someone came up to me to let me know that he'd been stung the day before. The locals kept telling us that there aren't rays in the water but believe... More

Many activities but you can choose to relax. Of course beach vendors but everyone's friendly. Water was warm and scenery is nice. Getting a chair and umbrella with food/drink service through a resort was the way we went. Great service.
