Beautiful beaches and lots of restaurants in thus area. Do your research and watch out for tourist traps for restaurants. Trust reviews from other travellers when deciding where to eat! Nice long stretch of beach with great waves. We walked the beach everyday as we were staying at the El Cid

This beautiful and gorgeous beach surrounded by deep green/blue sea and hotels is a delight to our own eyes. Walking on it and breathing the salty (a little) air are a gratifying feel. There’s a lot of shops and restaurants. And we ended up at a nearby restaurant (the Shrimp Factory) for lunch.

A must see when visiting Mazatlán. Great mix of new and old. Culture, resorts, restaurants, shopping

This is where lots of hotels, restaurants & souvenir shops are located. The beach is beautiful, but lots of tourists.

If you are buying stuff wait for Henry and Raymond. Everyone loves Raymond sells jewelry-- he speaks English and is such a humble man, self employed. Henry sells sunglasses and hats also speaks English well. Both will check in with you daily to see how you are.

I think everyone has different priorities on what is important to them. But if you like a nice beach, good ocean swimming, plenty of bars and restaurants, access to the old town of Mazatlan, and the opportunity to meet the locals, then the Golden Zone is for you. If you want an all inclusive, walled off, and private location, maybe... More

We have only stayed in the Golden Zone when visiting so perhaps we are biased however that doesn't change the fact it's a great place to visit & stay while in Mazatlan. There are lots of great restaurants & shopping. The beach is beautiful.

The golden zone is a shopping experience. It can be a little crazy, don't do it if you are tired or crabby. There are a variety of shops. You can find a lot of original - hand made items. But, there are a lot of mass produced trinkets that you can find in several of the shops. Shop the stores... More

Lots to see in the golden zone. Great Shrimp at Poncho's on the beach and where else can you get a pint of Modella Negro (best Mexican beer IMHO) for 20 pesos ($1.29 CAD) just across the street at Luck B's.

Very much a tourist area. We stopped at the port from the cruise ship and eventually made our way over to the Golden Zone. They had a nice stretch of beaches and plenty of large and small shops to buy souvenirs. If you go to the smaller shops, you can haggle lower prices for the same items. If you see... More
