PLEASE do not come here. IF you take the trip into town, all you see is this gate that is pointless and you don't get to see anything or go in past the gate. Look opposite of it instead and watch people diving off the...More

We were told that in the late 1800's the cave was once used to store ice. The cave aka refrigerator hill, was at that time perfect for storing ice. The gate was put up to keep it from being used for unsavory things and as...More

We just drove by and got out for a bit. It's pretty neat and i suggest getting one of the locals to tell you about it.

It's a weird little spot visible from the malecon. It was locked up so you couldn't go inside, if you wanted to.

Take a pix at the entrance and go. Nothing to see here. Rumors of the devil living in it. Close to the water.

We were told that ice use to come on ships and it was stored in the cave. Another story is that it was used to store ammunition during the war. Our grand children think it's cool and that's what counts.

Only saw it from our Tour Bus as it is barred for people to go into for safety reasons of course! Not really a spectacular thing to see otherwise.

Husband, son, and I saw this gate on our quick tour of Mazatlan. We didn't get much information about it, but we saw it. We toured in a vehicle called pumeria. It is like a mix of a Volkswagon and golf cart.
