Busy shopping plaza packed with locals and tourists. Exciting, fun, noisy. Enjoy a walk along the plaza before or after your visit to the Instituto Cultural Cabanas.

This was the highlight of the last day at Guadalajara before heading home. This was a big open area that connected a lot of popular tourist attractions. The weather was great, there was plenty to see, and there were street merchants selling a wide variety of clothing, jewelry, and paintings/drawings. The is a MUST if you come to Guadalajara and... Is just a few minutes from Hospicio Cabañas & actually from here you get a beautiful view to it. Is full of jewelry stores and food.

Plaza tapatía is a very interesting place to visit because of the sculptures you can sit on. It has no people during mornings which would be the best to take some pictures.

This is a walking zone that goes from the Guadalajara Cathedral to the Hospicio Cabañas Museum. You must definitely spend at least half a day visiting all the buildings in the plaza: the Cathedral, the Government Palace (Palacio de Gobierno), the Degollado Theater (Teatro Degollado) and Hospicio Cabañas.

Really fun evening walk along the avenue and plaza, easily walk there from Plaza Armas. Lots of people, vendors selling toys (that remind adults of their childhood!), food and icecream. Continue to be careful as you would in any crowded place anywhere, especially in the evenings, but Guadalajara and especially Tapatia/the avenue are very nice for a long walk and... More

Plenty of parking beneath the plaza. Many stores line the plaza along with local vendors. Unfortunately, there was plenty of trash on the ground. Many historic buildings along the plaza. Our hosts who live in the Guadalajara area told us to watch our wallets. At no point did we feel threatened. Many visitors were in the Plaza. A must visit... More

See where the city was founded by the Spanish, the Instituto Cabañas (at the far end, visible in this picture), the Ricoñada restaurant (elsewhere in this review of Guad.). worth the hike.
