The big draw at the Guadalajara Regional Museum is the skeleton of a mammoth. The accompanying explanation of the mega-fauna that coexisted with this beast was informative. Having visited a lot of natural history museums around the world, we found the modest but high-quality collection...More

The building is beautiful and the museum is free. Okay, now for the rest. Most of the rooms were closed and there is very little to see. If you are downtown, check it out, and don’t make a special trip.

Well, maybe we just came on a bad day, but when I purchased our tickets just after noon they started closing the exhibits shortly after we entered! You would think the ticket people would at least let us know in advance that they were closing...More

My husband went in while I watched the dog in the lovely park across the street. It's a beautiful building among plazas and other public sites. He noted that we've seen similar museums in La Paz, Guanajuato, Mazatlan etc. Worth the stop. Nicer if we'd...More

It was a very well spent time. The house where it´s located its fabulous on it´s own. We found a room we an "Ice age" theme. Which included local fossils of sabertooth, Mammoth, Ground sloth and others.

There were some good exhibits, such as the modern regional "folk" art one sponsored by a Mexican bank. The pre-Hispanic artifacts room could have been more interesting, but it lacked signage. The architecture of the building was interesting, but much of it was closed off.

The curation level is very poor and the fossil remains are not complete, the information was spare, but the instalations were lacking of maintenance

The majority of the rooms are closed for renovations which is very Unfortunate. The rooms that are open are still worth looking at.
