This was definitely one of the high points of our walk through downtown Guadalajara. The temple was under construction (otherwise it would have been 5 stars) but the building itself spoke to the incredible Mexican culture, and when we walked inside there was a mass going on and we were able to listen in for a few minutes. The inside... More

We walked here direct from the Cabana's on a bright sunny day. It took us about 30 minutes through the construction zones and we were worn out dodging traffic and rewarded when we arrived at his magnificence church. We took some respite sitting in the pews and looking up to see the massive amounts of stained glass and deep blues... More

Not a colonial church but interesting to view, especially the inside. Easy to walk to if in El Centro. On some evenings around 8 pm, when not raining, there are groups of older adults dancing to Danzon music.

There is a lot going on on the week, but Sunday's the best. Theres couples dancing, ice-cream, artisans, desserts, a restaurant & of course the beautiful church. Going with the family is great!

Construction of the Expiatory Temple started in the nineteenth century and finally completed in 1972. It is a gothic style and is very beautiful. The church clock was built using items brought all the way from Germany. Unfortunately there was no mass during the time I was there. If i ever return to Guadalajara I must attend a morning mass.... This is a great historic building. The exterior is great, but the true beauty is the interior. The heavy columns, the Italian glass-work, the German pipe organ. It also has an underground mausoleum, right beneath the altar. Outside of the church there's a night market, where you can grab local arts and treats. This is a must-see attraction.

This temple is absolutely stunning. The ornate details and gothic style are something you will want to see if you are traveling to Guadalajara.

This place is awesome to see. From the moment you walk into this gothic style place your jaw just drops open. Well at least mine did. I love everything about this place and the monseñor held a really nice mass. I just like to hear his voice. Kind of like ear candy. There is lots of parking underground but the... More

A wonderful piece of architecture, typical of the ego driven vanity of the wealthy over the centuries. They built churches for the glory of God, and forgot about hospitals for poor people. Oh dear. Internally it's fine. It's not in the top ten of churches I've seen this year but I will give it four stars merely for the external... More

Catholic church dedicated to the Blessed Sacrament. Church is of neo-Gothic style and is considered the greatest work of its kind in Mexico. Its construction began on August 15, 1897 and ended 75 years later in 1972.
