A very pleasant way to spend a morning/afternoon

I was hesitant to go to a museum where there would be nothing but images of Don Quixote, but in fact, it was way beyond my expectations. There was quite a variety of art, some of it quite modern, others, more classic. What struck me most was that there were works by significant international artists. There were works by Robert... If you are in art lover do not miss this museum, located just a block from the main square in Guanajuato. It houses a collection of art inspired by Cervantes and his classic work Don Quixote.

For fans of Don Quixote, this is a "must see" place. Centrally located within Guanajuato, it is an excellent place to see various artists' interpretation of Don Quixote and his epic journeys -- from classical, somewhat realistic views to contemporary, edgy views. These interpretations cause you to reflect on your thoughts of Don Quixote or noble, but hopeless, "knightly" pursuits.... More

This museo has great temporary exhibits and frequent gallery openings. A monthly calendar is posted on the front wall of the building. The coffee shop inside is on the expensive side but worth it!

Even if you don't know Don Quiote, I think you will find satisfying art work to enjoy. If you do know him, you will find wonderful interpretations of him and his story. Free on Tuesday!! (Though it only costs 30 pesos). VERY comfortable building, VERY well curated, even some English. Close to Teatro Juarez.

We thoroughly enjoyed the huge variety of artistic representations of Don Quixote even though we've never read the book. The museum has inspired us to get a copy of the book.

Marvelous, elegant building in the center of Central Historic. Sixteen rooms, hundreds of artists represented and ONE subject. Clearly I need to read the Man of La Macha again. There must be some profound, universal truths in this book to inspire such an outpour of art work. Plus there is a lovely open court yard in the middle with a... More

Others have appraised the art gallery. Another thing or event is the Thursday night music show. During the season a musician(s) will perform in the evenings. The theatre is quite small, with maybe 30 very hard chairs. Quality depends on the artist but usually very good. Worth at least a query. The 1 show I went to was excellent. Admission... More

This museum features a broad range of pieces of art (mostly paintings and ceramics) inspired by the Cervantes's story of Don Quixote. The quality of the works is outstanding, even surprising. It is not have all that much info about Cervantes himself.
